Blew my front tire off the rim and went flying otb. By the time I put a tube in I couldn't find you guys. I headed straight til I found laurel pond and took that to sitting bear.

Dude that was the snake!😱, and according bill's wiki linki, he was on the larger end of the spectrum for his breed. I love how fatso (CAE & 'Snake handler') just walked over to it and pushed him off the trail like Crocodile Dunde. Crazy stuff! After that, I was thinking that we just need to run into a 400 lb. black bear, and a loose hippo to make the trifecta. I'm glad you missed getting bit.

Peace, Love and Bearscat.

Great ride today of the Bearscat 50 course with the majority of the VTC board, plus some special guests. The high point of the ride was when EABODS was forced to crash into the woods while ripping down Pines to avoid hitting an angry 5+ foot Timber Rattlesnake that was right in the middle of the trail 😱. He bashed his knee and tweaked his ankle, but was not bitten. Lucky! A bite from that fat fellow would have been a very, very, very bad thing.

On Pines? Great, that sucks. Now I'm scared. Only seen them on Thirsty Dog.

FOCO FONDO

100 mi. / 10k of climbing

I scouted the beginning to the ride yesterday, and have done the 2nd part as part of the 'seven'. It's going to be a cracker!

the elevation on mapmyride is often off, but the ride should be 100+ miles with 10k feet in climbing.

That is just sick, and crazy, and only a fool would attempt such a ludicrous endeavor.
Um...In other words, count me in. When were you thinking of organizing this sillyness?

Well, VTC Bearscat training is now complete. EABODS, Trez, and I capped off a heavy week of riding at the GYM Estate, North. It was a week that included rattlesnakes, thunderstorms hailstorms, 5 hour mud epics, and last but not least, an insane 2600ft ascent of Gore Mountain.
Meanwhile, Prez has been killing it, and is fresh off his win at Stewart, and the CHO...umm...he's been eating nothing but live deer meat for at least a month. And Monte is well, Monte. Nuff said. We are ready. Nothing left to do but spin easy this week and mentally prepare for the toughest race of the year.

I spent the weekend crusing around Gettysburg,Pa rollin a 34/16 on the misfit. This morning was a 7 am roll through the Battlefield. Didn't feel it right to try to hammer in there. Surreal feeling looking up at Little Round Top drom Devil's Den, also looking down from LRT. Most striking was Pickett's Charge. In a little over a month, 148 years ago, 12,000 men stepped out of a patch of woods and marched across a field a mile wide directly into Union cannon fire. In an hour they took 6,000 casualities.

VTHS MTB outing

Heading out to ride Kittatinny today with the mountain bike club from school (4:30). It's always fun getting some of the students out on the trail, showing them the ropes, and watching them get better each year.
