Dates??

I'm thinking of holding the FOCO FONDO on June 11th or 12th (8am start to beat the heat). I was planning on doing the 'Stoopid 50', but 100 miles with 10k feet of climbing is dumb enough. 😀

July 2nd or 3rd could work as well. Board members feel free to chime in.

**the ride will be in the 6-7 hour range

That is just sick, and crazy, and only a fool would attempt such a ludicrous endeavor.
Um...In other words, count me in. When were you thinking of organizing this sillyness?

I'm definitely in.....let's just make it for 6/23 weekend or 7/2

25th or 26th works for me. I can't do the July 2nd or 3rd. If we're only looking at weekends, then July 17th is good too.

I'm open in the summer, but I know Bill works weekdays. June 26th looks good, even though Lewis morris is that weekend? I don't care too much for the race course, but the family gets to hang at the beach and playgrounds while I race.😀

If the 26th works for all, let it be so!

100 mi. / 10k of climbing

It's going to be a cracker! This is the most insane ride I could come up with leaving from WHQ and not going over 100 mi.😀

^^^ the elevation on mapmyride is always off,and the ride should be 100+ miles with 10k feet in climbing.

Full tasting menu to follow soon. (post ride)

Damn, I already signed up for the giro thing. I may try this next week, if I survive the scat.

:hmmm:This may be a good reason to blow off h2h lewmo on Sunday.

I'm gonna have to check jr's baseball schedule, prolly have a game that day but this ride sounds like its worth a free pass.

I had to make my first post a VTC one. Rode the scat course earlier today, it's all dry and fast. Have a great ride tomorrow, no luck needed. Kill it!

SCAT Recap.

The race kicked off with the Open Men/ 45+ mix at first, then the promoters did the right thing by waiting a minute** and letting the rest go(45+) **keeping them close together. I guess people weren't paying attention at the meeting when Jeff Stickle clearly went over the order. The SS group left 5 min later, 6min behind the open men. Sean Cav and I were cranking out a nice tempo and trying to get past 100+ riders on rock bridges and loomy ST. Not the most fun. Sean and I seperated on rattlesnake and I just kept it steady.

Somewhere on Hofferline?, I herd a snapping sound and noticed my rear braking was messed up. When I hit the Start/Finish area I worked on fixing it. I lost the only bolt on the slider dropout of my Superfly SS. I thought I could steal one off the other side, only to ride away and feel everything loosen up shortly after. After the bridge, I attemped to fix it again, but I lost one of the nuts in the leaves. At this point I was pissed. I wanted to finish this race and get my 50 miles in. I ended up finding the nut and came up with the idea of stealing my brake bolt to fix the issue. It wasn't long enough to fit on the Drive side, but I made it work for the non-drive! I was back up and rolling and probabliy 2-3 min. down on 2nd place Sean Cav and way back on eventual winner and really on form Doug Jenne, but there I was happily rolling again. I didn't drive a whole 15min to DNF in what might be called 'my back yard'. I tried to keep my head in the game and rode fast when I could. I ended up catching back up with Sean, but Dougie had checked out. At the finish, I was elated to have competed the course given my adversities, and had felt I put in a solid ride. Somedays everything works out and other days you have to put your head down and just finish. Today was the later, and it was a good day.

Many thanks to the Black Bear Crew on setting up and running such a great race! I'm ready to sign up for next year!

Mixed Bag

Mixed results for VTC at Bearscat:

Pan - DNF (Sidewall tear)
Bill - 6th Open. Great Job!!!
VP - DNF (Multiple flats).
Monte - 2nd Open. Awesome!
Prez - 2nd SS. Had the thing won by a mile if not for massive mechanicals.
Me - 11th Open. Was riding together with Bill when I double flatted (Sidewall again!)on Pines at mile 30. Oh well.

Bontrager tires are officially banned for race use by all VTC board members from this point forward!!!

Put Ignitors on the banned list as well. I've got plugs hanging out of my front and rear, Stans leaking out the sidewalls front and rear. Not to mention the gash in the rear tire.

Bonty XDX's don't last long in Waway either.

Dave, you've had yarn hanging out of that tire since the Spring Cleaning. You can't say you didn't know i was coming.

We offered to cannibalize Panhead's bike to help Roger out, but he was insistent he'd be fine. Apparently that lasted a mile 🙂 I do agree, the race was his to lose though. Mechanicals get the best of you sometimes. Good showing from the group in all. Well done. Now go register for our next race 😀
