Tour de Pink Live blog

Did you make it to the dinner tonight? I hear my sister Jamie gave a pretty moving speech that I unfortunately couldn't stick around for.

Hi Jeff,

Jamie's story is incredible! I'm so proud to be riding with her and so many amazing survivors. I hope we run into her today. I'm glad you enjoyed day 1.

So we're up getting ready for breakfast. Ugh, this too early... I was glad to see our lap times yesterday were pretty consistent. We'll shoot for a similar pace today it seemed to work for both of us. We tried doing the bottle an hour, food ever hour thing but I don't really think we got it. Towards the end we were playing carb catch up though. The last two stops we had to refill both bottles and get some snacks. I'm not sure about Lisa but I remember devouring a cliff bar and shoveling banana chips into my mouth. We'll try and start eating/drinking earlier and see how it affects us later in the ride.

Thanks Lisa. I'm glad you're having a good time and I'm so jealous I cant ride today! If you see Jamie (#158) on the road remind her to drink and eat something. Tell it's from me and don't be surprised if you get a "f-you and f-him." She's a belligerent rider.

The weather looks perfect. Enjoy!

I WILL find you guys tomorrow.

Rest stop 1…my ass is happy to be off the bike. Today isn’t as bad on the hills but we are a soar from yesterday. Another hour and a half of riding or so and it should flatten out

Good to see you at the start today. I was with the pack for the first few miles and ended up with the front riders. Most of the people i was riding with were pros of some sort and all knew each other. Lenosky added on at the first rest stop and i never realized he is like 8 feet tall. The only other persons name i caught was kim balwin, who turns out was the national time trial champ a few years back and won the tour of switerland and a few other big riders. Dont get me started on how it was driving behind her 😀.

Also, that bike was in our group for awhile.
Hope u did well and good luck tomofrow.

Good seeing you too. We went to get our tires pumped and got pushed to the back of the pack. See you around

Admittedly, I started day 2 as a bit of a whiner. I could have easily cried at times. Nothing could have prepared me for the pain of sitting and climbing in the saddle for 180 miles. Ok well i guess pre-riding 180 miles would have given me a clue… But who has time for that!?! Day two began with more climbing. We started climbing out of Valley Forge and seemed to climb for miles. How big is Valley Forge? Big enough to hide an army. You know… The climbs continued and were followed by some enjoyable but brief downhills. The first real smile that crossed my face was from a 3-mile decent after lunch. Fantastic! Our 3rd and final rest stop was in New Hope which was a mad house as usual on a saturday afternoon. It was great to be back in familiar territory. The volunteers at the rest stop had some discouraging news though. Because the Delaware had flooded so many roads south of New Hope, the trip to our hotel in Trenton would now be 20 miles. I thought for sure that my butt didnt have another 20 miles left but we hooked up with a group that were calling themselves the jersey girls (but included many men) and our friend Mary who is riding her second TDP after her diagnosis last year. Finishing out with the jersey girls helped get me thinking positively on that last leg. Never thought I’d be excited to see the “New Jersey welcomes you” sign or that I’d ever look forward to arriving in Trenton! Tomorrow is the last day of the tour and we’ll be arriving in Mercer county park sometime in the early afternoon. This jersey girl has to get some sleep. Another long day awaits!

Great recap Lisa 🙂 Good job going the distance. Once again you guys ride through my neighborhood and I'm out of town 🙁

Have fun tomorrow.
