This Thread Blows - C19 and beyond

let's hope the governors use this info to open stuff back up to everyone but at risk... If these facts are true across the board then the severe rate is below 1% and the death rate is below 0.1%.

why hasn't NJ gone to self serve gas? they laid off the toll collectors...
Because every station times # of pump employees, will be out of a job.
Yeah, that. Some proposal is introduced every few years to get rid of that archaic restriction, but is defeated every time since it could result in a loss of attendant jobs. At least most gas stations ignore the restriction for motorcycles, probably since they don't want to be responsible for spilling gas on somebody's custom tank paint job. Originally being from a neighboring state, I prefer pumping my own gas.

Murphy was actually asked about that in one of his daily conferences a week or two ago. If I remember correctly, he didn't say he was opposed to it, but rather that there was really no discussion of allowing self serve.

Well, that'sone way to look at it. The other is that there are lots of people who can carry the virus and potentially kill people so testing everyone will be necessary or we'll be social distancing forever.

I mean everyone could potentially be carrying any virus that kills someone that is compromised too. It seems that people are forgetting that other illnesses kill compromised people at almost the same rate as coronavirus... So I guess just keep everyone home until science cures everything?

I'm good with that. As someone with pulmonary issues who has never feared that my customers might actually accidentally kill me, I'l wait for testing.

There's the crazy rumor that Big Telecommute is behind all this and it's gaining traction. Webcam makers, the home desk furnishing industrial complex, the grocery store conglomerates, cyclocross promoters, wine and beer industry etc pushing the government through backdoor channels into this false pandemic.

I'm not saying I support this rumor, but someone should follow the money.

Must have been started by Zoom.

Are you unaware, or just completely ignoring what this is doing to the hospitals? You know, the refrigerated trucks all over acting as temporary morgues, the hospitals turning outpatient areas, parking decks, and any empty space they can find into makeshift units to support the increased patient loads. Protective equipment running out. Medications running out. Blah blah blah. That needs to get settled down, and I think things can be opened up very slowly to ensure they don't get hammered with a second wave. And testing would be crucial to make sure infected people can isolate themselves and people they have had contact with can isolate and get tested as well. Anyone, with any kind of symptoms should be able to get tested immediately. I don't think the problem is the small death rate, I think it's the amount of people that need hospital level care.

This is my sister's hospital, they gutted the rehab gym to make another unit. Their sister hospital gutted their cafeteria to make a unit. The ICU there has room for 40 patients and right now they've expanded and are holding 100.
