Seems like the 2 must haves are the les paul and an american strat. I guess thats why stopped playing. Dont have either. 🙁

Don't own a Les Paul currently. Used to have one of the Epi ones back in the day. Although, I would probably choose an ES-335 over a Les Paul. Came really really close to buying one recently but an emergency popped up and depleted that fund 🙁

I still want more guitars. a ES335 as well. ;-).

+1 on the ES335.

Have you ever heard of Heritage? They are a lesser known guitar maker, building out of the old Gibson plant in Kalamazoo. Many of the machines they use are the same machines from the gibson days...

I used to have a Heritage H535 Semi Hollow Body. Well, it wasn't really mine. It belonged to the drummer of my old band but it was on a long term loan to me since I loved it so much and couldn't afford a guitar of that caliber. Very similar to the 335 with a slightly thinner body. Some say that the Quality of Heritage guitars surpasses that of current Gibson guitars and with lower price tag too.

I really miss that guitar - Pictured below. I think this was 1998 or 1999, I can't remember. I was 18, playing at bars almost every weekend and lying about my age hahaha.

I also had an epi les paul years ago... but couldnt get over the shape of the head and the looks of it. Sold it to a sucker... umm I mean an enthused beginner with the hopes of buying a gibson but it never happened.

Lol - good moves, dude. Yeah I was not impressed with my Epi Les Paul either. I unloaded that one pretty quickly. Not sure if it was just a dud or what but the tone had no character, no bite. Really muddy sounding. It was just meh. Never stayed in tune either.

FWIW, I have an Epiphone Sheraton II currently and really love it.

Thats a gorgeous guitar! I dint care about the name when it comes to guitar. Gibson is gibson, I never heard of heritage guitars. If that company makes quality guitars like class A wood and mechs i would love to try that out. I dont know if you agree with me when it comes to buying or choosing a guitar. When I see a nice guitar no matter how expensive or big names they are. When you first strum it you will know if the guitar connects with you in some way. I know it's weird or maybe its a musician thing only a musician would understand. The guitar talks to you and you will know that's the guitar for you. There was a time I tried 3 identical guitars and for me they are not the same at all. They all sounded different or feel different. They have their distinctive character. Speaking of epiphone guitars. The high end epi are not that bad at all

I'm over here like... I just want a ukelele.

Also, anyone have a banjo? I want to see some banjo videos.

I don't have either, either. I had a LesPaul and absolutely hated it, felt like playing a 2x4 strapped to a cinder block. Also had a Strat and a Tele. Sold both of those as well. I bought the Tele as a replacement for my super cheap Ibanez Talman but I really like the Talman a lot over the Fender. Just play whatcha got!!

Oh I agree with you 100%. You seem like you really get it. And Iv'e experienced that as well. I have an Epi Sheraton II that I adore and will never get rid of. Bought her completely on impulse one day when I was playing a few guitars. The moment I picked it up, I knew I had to have it.

Hahahaha That made me LOL because it's so true. Although thats what I like about Les Pauls. They feel substantial. Personally I like the heavy weight and chunky neck. And nice riff, by the way

Nice talking to you tonight, @MMuller! BTW, I think we have a mutual friend - You've played with Scott Rednor?

Hahaha! I thought im alone on this. I remember year 2009 to be exact. Im looking for an acoustic guitar and end up getting the cheaper one because the guitar connects with me. I tried all high end brands but they don't feel right. I ended up with a dreadnought Larrivee acoustic guitar. Just one strum on it and I said I have to get this. The same thing with all my guitars. I agree on the les paul. Being a solid mahogany is not on the light side when it comes to weight. But it has that sustain because of the chunkiness of it.

Dont know about a gibson but the epi was heavy as hell... at least compared to my ibanez and just like @capedoc said... mine also didnt stay in tune.

After helping at second life bikes last night I came home and was dropping bass notes all over the house. Megan asked me if I was gonna pick them up but I was like 'nah'.

The other day, my bassist, Gary gave me this American Fender Jazz Bass to hold on to for a while. Wow, this thing plays like butter!

She's a looker too. I dig the satin finish. He says it's not his favorite as far as tone goes but has a great feel. Wonder if I can convince him to part with it cause I'm loving this thing.

that's a beauty. i have played both the P bass and the jazz - i only go with jazz bass now. for some fun, throw a tube fuzz on that thing and rip it. they sound great distorted.

Here's another older easy one. The first 1/2 of Stream of Consciousness by Dream Theater. The chords in this song are easy, but sound cool as balls.

Nice! I've listened to Train of Thought like five times over the past two weeks.

Playing an Ibanez SC420 here.

Are you playing along to the complete song or one stripped of the lead? I was fooling with a looper (forget the make) a few years ago and there was a way to put songs on it with the lead removed so it was like playing along to the drums, bass and rhythm guitars.

And a request, have any Children of Bodom videos? Would like to see In Your Face.
