Strictly METAL

I want to have one of Tosin's children. He's the reason I got an 8-String. He's also the reason I ended up selling it a few months later😱

-Jim.

:hysterica what 8 string did you get? the crummy basswood ibanez they sell for a kings ransom? did you see the one i'm making atm? 😛

silly me. i don't have the pics of the 8 string i'm making on any of my facebook pages other than my personal one... oops 😱

the body is getting finished in black with a "limed" finish... basically, it'll be black and the grain lines will be white 😉

Between the Buried and Me is awesome.
To avoid some of the newer lame metal that is coming out, I tend to opt for prog metal instead. You can't go wrong with bands like Meshuggah and Opeth. But prog newcomers like Between the Buried and Me and Dillinger Escape Plan are doing a pretty good job.

Dude not to be a jerk but you cannot compare BTBM and DEP. Two totally different styles of metal. Dillinger is a far step from progressive metal and FYI Dillinger has been around since 1996. If you want to blow your mind check out Irony Is A Dead Scene EP with Mike Patton

Mike Patton, the guy from Faith No More?

Yeah. Patton in my opinion is probably one of the more under-rated vocalists out there. Faith No More is awesome but to get a good idea of how versitile he is, check out all his projects.

Mr Bungle
Tomahawk
Fantomas
Peeping Tom
Mondo Cane

I was going to bring this up a few weeks ago when I got the info, but couldnt find videos I liked enough to post so I scrapped the thread.

My good friend Joe was recently asked to join Razorblade Handgrenade, they are playing September 18th at Starland Ballroom, opening for Suicidal Tendencies and Sick of it All. He's pretty siked. Sunday evening show.

Two bands I would love to see before I die! Good luck to your friend

Summer into Fall Playlist:

Converge Axe To Fall
Converge No Heroes
Converge You Fail Me
Iron Maiden Beast Over Hammersmith
Iron Maiden Death on the Road
YOB Atma
Mastodon The Hunter

Wow, rocking converge, I had no idea.
They've been on my radar for a long time, at least since Jane Doe came out. This summer it finally clicked. I'm really amazed by how effective they are in such diverse styles, while still keeping the tension and intensity intact.

I don't listen to them much these day, but they were one of the craziest bands I saw live back in their earlier days, Petitioning the Empty Skies days

Sons!! The new Dream Theater dropped!! BOOM!! They knocked it out of the park with this one. The new drummer is amazing. I've uploaded it into a Grooveshark playlist. Do yourself a favor, LISTEN!!

This album reminds of how much I need to practice:drooling:

-Jim.

Did you catch them in the area last month!? I was at the concert in Morristown. Setlist was pretty good and Mike Mangini was tight! Makes u forget about Portnoy

Opeth is one of my favorites.
I see them every time they come around.
I like the direction they took on Heritage.

Thoughts on the New All That Remains?

I think its a step backwards from"The Fall of Ideals"

And the New Opeth (Watershed) is insane. These guys get better and better. You cant really appreciate them until you see them live and they sound like they are in the studio .. So tight....

I was a little disappointed with Heritage at first, but love it now. Had every intention of seeing them in NYC back in September, but couldn't make it happen, unfortunately.

Devin Townsend Project, anyone? Love Deconstruction despite some of the goofy themes/lyrics.
