Running With the Foghorn Leghorn

That burger and fries made me hungry so went to cafeteria to pick up my usual sammich lunch. In the line, some lady orders "a tuna fish sandwich". Why do people order tuna fish? To distinguish from tuna beef, or tuna pork? Do they also order salmon fish, or halibut fish, or swordfish fish? People can be weird.

Fairly sure this is to distinguish it from tuna piano.

Good stuff @Norm

So I woke up and did a bit more work. Then we went to the water park all day. It was freaking beautiful out:

Then we came home and ate dinner. Then the sun set:

Then I wrote a 2500 word developer document for the project I'm working on then answered a bunch of idiotic emails yet again.

So I'm out of words now. Good night.

Starting to get tired here. Balancing a vacation and trying to work to some extent is tough to do. I have given up riding for now. A few days off can't really hurt.

I really like this picture even if it does expose the fact I have a massive head. I figure it's really just more room to store useless shit. This was while we were taking runs down the luge track.

image.jpg

After that we went for a hike and this is the lookout pic. Last year we did this same hike and it was a chore to finish. This year no problem. Kids are growing up. After this we got lunch in Tremblant then went home because this village is expensive.

image.jpg

In the afternoon we went rock exploring on the red river just down the road then hit up the beach near the cottage until the afternoon clouds started to roll in. Dinner after that then we watched Star Wars I, which was better than I remembered.

Things are starting to slow down now. We jammed everything into 4-5 days because of the impending rain but then it never rained. This morning the older ones do more crosswords. They've come to really enjoy this recently.

Went to Laval which is the small island next to Montreal where everyone lives who doesn't want to pay for Montreal but still wants to be close. Think Jersey City but more like the suburban sprawl of Hillsborough. We went to see D's friend for lunch. She has 3 kids, a pool, and a trampoline. This was more or less looking straight up. Every other direction had wires in the picture.

image.jpg

We got home to Opa making corn. We were a little late as we got caught in the evening traffic.

image.jpg

Then we watched Star Wars II which was pretty shitty really. The fight scene at the end was written by Vince McMahon. Or Ed McMahon maybe. And the sun set again. I'm posting this repeatedly to highlight the fact the weather here is nothing short of amazing every day. It really makes NJ feel like ass.

On another note I'm amazed at the number of cars with bikes & bike racks on them. I get that it's a skiing paradise here. I had no idea biking was so big. It would almost be ideal except that everything is crazy expensive and everyone speaks Farsi or whatever the hell it is.

Yeah, winter & biking here is impossible really. There's pretty much 1+ feet on the ground between like October through May.

Friday was pretty low-key. Morning was slow then Julia & I went to the market and then hit up the visitor center in Tremblant to grab some maps & info for @pooriggy who is interested in the xc ski scene up here.

image.jpg

Came back and took Julia & Simon out for a bike ride to the covered bridge and back. Simon is pretty much learning how to ride for real the past few weeks.

image.jpg

Lunch after this then we rode the ATV for 2-3 hours in the back then went to the river beach briefly before heading back to the house for dinner and Star Wars III. Much better than SWII.

Tonight the kids got in on the action.

Tell Julia and Simon if they are going to go out clubbing after you go to bed at 9pm, they need to remember to take their wristbands off before morning.

I think Zack and Julia are about the same age. I think Simon is too young to get into a club and/or maybe he's not up after 9pm. Not sure what the laws are up north doe.

I woke up hungover. I really don't get hungover much anymore but I was this morning. Popped some Advil and a few cups of coffee, then we hit the ATV loops for a while until it was about lunch time. Man I can't believe I didn't bust out the ATV loops until yesterday. I love this thing, I could literally ride it all day. Anyway, better late than never.

After lunch we went back to the pump track/zip line/beach. Not much interest in the pump track all around but Julia and I did some loops then hit the beach to...you know, color. It's what everyone does at the beach, no? I did jump in, because it was cold & cloudy and I think cold water helps a hangover. For sure, better than hot water. Then I swam to the dock on the lake and taught Zac & his cousin Alexi the Nestea Plunge.

We also saw a fox and it tried to piss on Zac's green ball.

Back to the house for more ATV loops. Let the 2 older ones drive it about half a mile back to the house. They both did really well, I have to say. Maybe next year we'll up the ante a bit and let them drive in the woods a bit. But that runs some higher risks as the path goes right next to the river at points. A lack of attention could drop us in the drink.

That night we had some beers & wine and watched Star Wars IV. Great flick. The sunset sucked tonight but in the interest of being honest, gotta throw out the bad with the good.

We drove home, something like 460 miles. Too many miles. We stopped just inside of NY, welcome to America properly, MacDonald's style. That's 26 nuggets, right there.

Dropped the kids off at their other parents then went right to Shop Rite, then went home and worked until 1:15am.

The end.

Maybe one day I'll bring @davidcarson48 to MacDonald's to show him Nugget Math. But @bonefishjake is right. Once you get kids, you get this math.

Monday was back to the grindstone, which translates to all 3 kids coming back to the house. So I am supposed to be working all day and maybe making up some of the time I blew off last week, all save for the fact that the kids are in their summer mode. For those of you who don't know what this means, imagine that kids had an "impossible" switch. Summer turns that on.

Well me in my idealism figure this. I'm going to try to keep them off the iPads all day. I mean, school is coming so they need to learn to sit still and not fry their brains with that stupid f'ing Stampy Cat shit. Anyway, I made it until 3:00 which I put in-line with building the Great Pyramids of Giza by myself while wearing boxing gloves. Safe to say that up until 3:00 I got absolutely no work done. After 3, I was very productive but frustrated nonetheless.

D got home, Julia went with her mom, and then the boys were getting picked up by their dad. I jumped on Ted for a quick hour and decided to hit CR for a bit. On the way I remembered the Monday ride was going on so I swung around the ballfield, the white trail, Newman's where I tagged @gtluke and @Kirt with business cards, then rolled through mid-red and up the Guardrail Climb to orange and back down to hit the side exit out of the park where all the dirt piles are. Well literally 50 feet from my exit I see @Kirt and then we talked a bit before the whole Monday crew caught up and we took a group pic, which is linked in another thread.

Good to see so many peeps out there. But my time was limited and I had to run home before the dark descended, which barely happened. Overall, I felt both good & bad at times, which is kinda how it goes when you get on the bike after a week off.

Got home, had some salad for dinner, then watched like 3 episodes of Elementary before going to bed. It's nice to have some brain dead action for the night.

Then we watched Star Wars II which was pretty shitty really.

Agreed. The original Trilogy from the 70's & 80's was some of the best cinema ever created. Every single sequel after that just did not do it for me at all.
