Robbed again

To all of my NJ cycling friends,

Once again I would like to make you aware of the fact that my apartment in Montclair was broken into during the day on Friday 8/26. Again these MF thieves stole from my apartment my TREK Madone 5.2 and my FELT FX1 Cyclocross / Commuter bike. Back in March of 09 the first time I was robbed they got away at that time with my Litespeed Tuscany Road & TREK EX9 Mountain Bike. Once again they broke into my apartment through the very same window. This time out of the kindness of the cold black hearts they did leave my Gary Fisher Singlespeed RIG behind. I would like to thank them personally for that act of extreme kindness. They also grabbed by POS laptop and aprox $50 in quarters I had on top of my dresser. Perhaps I should search all the local Laundromats.

At this point I am done!!! I'm 51 and have ridden most of my life never very competitively but always happily. I don't live an extravagant lifestyle and cycling has been my one luxury that honestly I can barely afford. I cannot even begin to think about getting something to replace these until I can re-locate. And before someone even asks no I did not have renters insurance. You would think after the first time that would have changed. So shame on me! The first break in also caused me to pull my Guitar collection from my apartment causing me to give that up as well.

If anyone should happen to come across these bikes please contact me or the Montclair PD. Here are the details of each bike.
Felt FX1 Cyclocross bike. 2008 Serial # WK7000079
TREK Madone 5.2 Road bike. 2008 Serial # Still Tracking Down

Thanks to all
bm

That really sucks. Its a shame that you lost your passion because of some bad people in this world. I hope they find your bikes/the thieves. I will keep an eye on local craigslist ads.

Sorry to hear your bad news.. I bet an Alarm system by Federal Security Systems would have helped. PM me if your interested....
Sorry again..

This type of thing really sucks. I hate to see someone loose something they enjoy because of some cheap a-hole who doesnt want to work for things in life. I hope you reconsider your decision of quiting for that reason. I would consider a security system. Just the presence of one can deter many of criminals.

Drive down Bloomfield Ave. to Newark I bet you'll see some dumb F<<K on it... :getsome: Thats a shame man..

hope within any luck you'll able to recover your bike again.

this thieves must have been spying you all the time and probably the same thieves.

i know how it feel, losing our hard earn money(bikes)
coz,i once lost too.

good luck,taylor!!

+1 on move. Montclair has some scary areas from what I recall and it's not cheap. A shame as parts of the town are great. I can leave gold bars on my front lawn and no one will take them. I realize it's a false sense of security that can change in a second but it's a nice false sense of security. Where I went to college they would steal dog sh!t if you turned around for a second.

sucks that this happened to you again I would keep an eye on craigslist for the bikes hope you get some sort of satisfaction...

That's sick. Don't you wish you had hidden cameras s/u? I hope they catch the sobs. If they don't, rest assured that bad things will come to them eventually. Sorry.🙁

Wow that really sucks, their are some horrible people in the world. Time to do some craigslist searching, i'll see what I can find.

That really sucks man, I hope you find the guy.

Get a big dog, no one will break into your apt again. Mans solution to theives since for ever. $100 adpotion fee at the animal shelter saves a life and gives you a loyal friend for life. With the right breed, an animal who will protect you and your family with its life. Plus in some cases, a riding partner who's down to ride anytime.

sorry to hear that.. Montclair has alot to offer within walking distances and it would be a shame if you had to move due to some bad apples. To bad you don't have renter's insurance, perhaps cable locks would have done the trick.

We need a donate a bikes/$/parts thread for when stuff like this happens. I'd kick in a few bucks to help another member in need.

I bet we could get people back on two wheels in no time. At least the honest ones.

Not a bad suggestion.

First, what does renters insurance cost? Have to agree with the OP that he should relocate first though. I bet we can do something collectively. But if someone is watching the apartment, probably want to jet out of the neighborhood.

We can hook dude up with a new rig, camp out and wait for the intruder, and have a good old fashion boot party for him.
