Pearl's Generic Talk

After hearing everyone say how terrible this place is to ride, I'm actually excited to do Blue as my first Cat 2 race. Just as I was told that Jungle wasn't a good "first ever" race. Maybe it's in the cards for me.

I'm not sure, if they are readily available I'm sure that I have. I love hot stuff. Like 5 years ago or so Doritos had some awesome spicy flavor that seemed to just disappear, forget what it was. Lame.
 
You have never been to Blue?
I've been thinking of leading a gnar-a-blue tour soon.
Maybe I could do a loop of the gnar (debacle, myx monster, MFT) and then do a race course loop. It would be rough, the gnar beats the crap out of you. But it would be fun.
Do you have a geared bike, Blue is sooo much better with gears.
 
I'm too poor for a geared bike. Maybe not too poor, but I don't want to spend the money on it. Watching you (Luke) at Allamuchy is a good showing of why I'd want gears. I would assume Blue is similar in a way?
 
Yeah, similar but totally different. Hard to explain. There is a lot more soil than loose rock. You can get higher mph there, but then there are sections like debacle where you average like 1mph. Myx Monster is like lumpy bump but with more flow and more gnar. Lot of stuff there will blow your mind when you realize that people ride it.
Lots of large dudes ride there with 30lb 6" travel + bikes and flat pedals.
 
I checked the GPS for Blue race for the last 3 years. 08 and 09 were somewhat similar but with some major differences - including the fact they ran it in the opposite direction b/w the years. 07 was very different. With the amount of trails there, race route could really go through anywhere. I figure they'll probably include a mixture of terrain. It's not all rocks at Blue, although there's plenty of it. There's more monster rollers there than anywhere I've seen.

a very good source told me completely different course this year and i may have insider information, please stand by...
