I just watched the "hide your kids hide your wife" remix, awesome.

So I've been wondering how Chimney Rock compares to the "techy" places like Allamuchy, thanks for the insight. I definitely want to make it farther north this fall. My wife is taking a Saturday AM class so I'm going to make it a goal to try something new every week, if I can. And why am I laying out my own plans in your thread? Not so sure.

No barfing and no headache...making strides man. Keep it up.

On another unrelated note my wife just told me she saw a sticker on an Xterra in NYC "Save gas, ride a 29er"

Glad you enjoyed it. It has been in my head for the past week. I don't know why it is so catchy.

If you like the Rock, you will like Mooch North. I come from a "ride fast" perspective, so enjoying the techgnar a weird sensation. Find a way to venture up to Mooch North; just bring your lungs! The climbing is 100% worth it. They don't call it Cardiac for no reason!

i thought Cardiac was like the movie that everyone says is super funny and a must see. then when you see it its just meh. the hardest part about cardiac was being stuck behind geared riders...i should have snuck out with rob off the front (ftr it is a HUGE climb...just not as bad ias i though)

Agreed. Yeah, it's a long hill but I was expecting more. Not to say it's not a sweet trail or anything.

I don't know if you guys noticed, but Cardiac was re-routed by Bob W and his gang a couple years ago, incorporating all those switchbacks that now make this climb less of a death march. You can still see remnants of the old washed out, eroded, fall-line trail that gave Cardiac it's reputation.

Is that why it used to be called Ditch?

Also, did you guys all clean it all the way to the top?

Nothing exciting biking wise to say the least.

Gearing, FFRUU
Before I annihilate myself in my first cat 2 race, I want to make sure the gearing isn't what hinders me. I will probably run 33x20 for the rest of the h2h races. I find myself standing up too much on the 19t, even at places like CR. Sure I made it up all the hills, but I want to try and tackle them sitting down more than attacking out of the saddle.

Suggestions for gearing would be helpful.

I've never raced singlespeed, but I would think its much better to err on the safe side and go with an easy gear. I'd rather be spinning out on the fire roads then walking up a hill. Just my 2 sense. (That was intentional)
