I saw a guy riding yesterday with an I-pod.

While I never ride with music I do snowboard with music sometimes.

My musical taste is varies a lot from most folks so..

What are you listening to now either on the bike, getting ready to ride, or just unwinding after riding.

Last weekend at KVSP, we saw a woman riding with headphones sans helmet. Although not the most technical place, I have seen some nasty spills there.

I like to hear what is going on around me, mainly the noises my bike makes or if there are sticks stuck in my derailleurs.

I agree, plus my ears pop when I have my ipod on. Not sure why but it's a big enough pain in the ass that I don't ride with it anymore.

I actually listen to a recorded mp3 of my rear derailler. It's like 10 minutes long and I keep it on repeat.

No music when not physically stationary.Lamb of God leaving the house and either the sound of me laughing or crying all the way home, depending on who I rode w/.When forced to road ride I sing Judas Priest's Painkiller over and over. I pedal to that beat and almost always stay above 20 no matter what the route..............

from touring with no walkman, i got used to no music before during or after, so music and riding just don't even connect for me.

Usually, whatever I last listen to in the car sticks in my head for the entire ride. So I have to be careful to avoid bad radio on the way to the trail. In no particular order, some recent pre-ride tuneage:

Radiohead
Beck
TV on the Radio
Parliament Funkadelic
Alice in Chains
Sonic Youth
Bowie (mid 70s - early 80s)
Interpol
Secret Machines
The Strokes
Tool
James Brown

That's about all I know... Can't really swing the death metal anymore but I love fugazi.

Another obsession in my house

Wow, some cool and diverse stuff on these lists.

Music is a dominant force in my household. My wife's taste in music is incredible. She actually can play instruments as well. My talent in that realm is pathetic.

Anyway, most of my listening is in the car these days. Currently abiding:
-Isis
-Harvey Milk
-Om
-Lungfish
-Corrupted
-Wire
-Mastodon
-Robert Pollard
-Boris
-etc.

Last show attended was TV on the Radio and Grizzly Bear in Philly. Both bands were superb, particularly TVotR.

This thread could be a good one to keep alive.

Are these really bands? currently, all I'm listening to is the weather. I have to work in it. I try to connect to the music on the YouTube videos with mtbing, but it's no use. I'm too old. Anyone who has to scream the lyrics at me well, has nothing opinion changing anyhow. Why doesn't anyone have Lincoln Park on their list?

Frank

Sasquatch
Ray Conif
Montavanni
any Polka music
Lawrence Welk
and of course Liza Minelli
Tool
Fear Factory
Perfect Circle

I love me some Fiddy Cent when i ride. What! Yea...NOT!

I listen to music when i ride alone. But reading this stuff now makes me think it may b not such a good idea, so i can hear whats going on w/ my bike. On the road i keep the volume down so i can hear traffic...but its full blast on the trails.

hmm...currently on my mp3 player i have:
Panic at the disco
Halifax
Hoobastank
LINKIN PARK
Ill Nino
Hinder
Over It
Pinback

Im always open to new music...so im gonna try to find what you guys have been listening to

I'm stuck in a time warp of sorts. I'm usually pretty out of the loop.

Radiohead
Flaming Lips
Phish
PJ Harvey
NERD
Jane's Addiction
Gorillaz
Kanye West
Matisyahu
Sigur Ros
Wilco

Been interested in that TVotR CD since they won the Short LIst award a few years back. I really should just pull the trigger on that.
