Lyme vaccine was approved in 1998 - I think I got it in 99. They stopped making it a few years later.
Interesting...I wonder what the hell I was given then.

EDIT: I remember now.

I had Lymes in the 80s but got that vaccine you speak of in the late 90s. It had to have been the same one.

With tick season upon us, make sure you're aware of the symptoms of Lyme's and listen to your body.

Symptoms take a few weeks to appear. So if you get bit a few weeks ago and now feel crappy get tested.

It's easy to treat when fresh.

I got it when I was 16 so the doctor was convinced it was mono. I was sleeping like 18-20 hours a day. I had to convince him to test me for Lyme after 2-3 weeks. That's my proudest doctor story.

This is BS. The vaccine was removed from the market because it was giving people Lyme (my doctor shared this info). I got the vaccine a few years after it was released around 1998. There would be huge demand for a safe, effective Lyme vaccine IMO. Lymerix is not the solution :(

Nonsense. It was impossible to get Lyme disease from that vaccine, just like it's impossible to get covid from the currently approved covid vaccines.

Yeah, having had Lyme disease a few years ago, I'll be first in line for the VLA15 vaccine if/when it becomes available :) Complaints of adverse reactions and a class action lawsuit gave LYMErix a lot of bad press questioning its safety, likely leading to the low demand. The FDA had done a review and found no causal relationship, and said the benefits outweighed the risks, but the damage to LYMErix’s reputation had been done.

Sign me up! I've had Lyme's two separate times in the past 10 years (thought I had it a 3rd time, but that one turned out to be Hand, Foot, and Mouth that I caught from my son). Basically, felt like I had the flu without a runny nose/cough. Really sucks, but if you catch it soon enough, antibiotics do a great job.

Yes. Luckily my gp is a mountain biking, so any mention of Lyme's he's like come on in and get tested.

Doesn't have to be a few weeks. Typically anywhere from as little as 3-30 days. Also worth reiterating that not everyone gets a rash at the bite area. Flu-like symptoms are also possible.
Tracking mine was interesting since I first had signs Jan.3...not the typical season for it.

Yes, I had Lyme's 2xs. Once with a rash, the 2nd none.

The 2nd time I thought I was good. But then I started to feel like poop. Got tested and got treatment for it.

I thought once you had it you have it for life. I don’t understand how you can get it a few times. Worse headache ever plus I couldn’t go on Phish tour. Never really had the opportunity again. Some people unfortunately get really messed up with lymes. All from a stupid little tic.

I think if you catch it early and nuke it with antibiotics, you’re supposed to be able to get rid of it entirely.

That said I’ve had it and I don’t think it ever really goes away. I still get flare up symptoms from time to time.

I had lyme back in 2003 or 2004. I saw an infectious disease specialist afterward, and my recollection is that he said I could test positive for several years, but that the lyme was completely gone. The reason you still test positive is that they don't have a test for lyme itself, they have a test for the antibodies or whatever that your body produces, and those can stick around for a long time.
