Lewis Morris Time Trial - 12/1

Hey that's like 8 degrees warmer than last week!

I think I'm going with 2 laps of the yellow loop as the course. It's not "dead sexy" like Fat Bastard but it's easy to follow and means I don't need to put tomatoes, carrots, or cornstarch all over the place. Figure fastest times will be under an hour for that.

I may explore what it will take to get these things approved by the park so we can use arrows in the parks. Probably $$$$$$$$$$$.

Times will most definitely be under an hour for the yellow loop. Ask Shar0se, she can give you split times when passing certain trees or turns.

I might come over to say hello. I won't be on my 29er as I've broken it already! (sheared a pivot bolt). Back on the Stumpjumper. 26ers rule YEAH!!

This is true!! I love the yellow trail- I run and ride it all the time....lol

Sadly, as some of you know, the head shock on my Cannondale F400 broke and unlike many of you I only have ONE bike. The guys at High Gear graciously swaped out my fork so I'll have a loaner to ride. I will be picking it up tomorrow at 9:30am. That said I'll be there to ride around 10:00- 10:15 but won't be racing. Looking forward to mtg more of you! 🙂 Stay warm!

is it safe to assume that we'll be meeting up in the lot by the lake?

i'll be there to defend my second place tie with ryan!
it should be a balmy 28.5 degrees by start time!!! 😱

At the pavilion next to the lake. Look forward to seeing everyone.

Sharon - bummed that you won't be there by 9:00, but oh well, next time.

holy cow was it cold this am. thanks for showing up all, and thanks to maurice for giving me some direction on my bike. much appreciated!!!

btw, man is maurice fast. wicked fast.

Yea I think a good time was had by all. I was warm once I started riding.

And yes Maurice is fast, that's for sure. Even better - he makes you faster when he's breathing down your neck 😀

Thanks again Norm... Trails were great too; fast (not that I showed it) and pretty clear. I think it's time to get back to a PROGRAM.

Sorry...

I couldn't make this one as I have my son this weekend. Right now we have Star wars ships and slot cars flying around the house...!
It looks like you all had fun. I'm sure Maryanne will fill me on on everything that I missed.
So there goes my crown. T'was short lived. The next weekend I can play is the 15th. So if there's anything going on, I'll be there to give you all a run for your money. Well, try my bestest anyways.
See you all soon !
Marc

Wish I could have done the race. On my way home I picked up a new derailleur hanger, threw it on, and wham, bike worked perfectly... grumble. I should have brought the SS... Oh well, next time! It was fun doing the oh so short preride and good seeing you all.

I would have liked to do the race as well.....I ended up coming out and going for a run- then went and got my bike- nice to meet more of you!! 🙂

Thanks everyone for coming out! It was a good time, but flipping cold!!! We had 7 people show to race and 1 mechanical so 6 people went off. Maurice, Ryan, Bill, and Mike were the guys finishers and Mare45 beat out Neen for the women's title. Times and scores posted later. I think Walter won though because of the hot chocolate, coffee, and doughnuts. 😀

It was my pleasure to come out and offer a little moral support for the troops. Nice to meet some new folks, and it was really fun standing in the woods with norm watching him do his "trying to keep warm" dance. Can't wait for the next one!

It looked like it was going to be a fun time. And, out of the wind, it was pretty warm really!

Thanks for the choc-choc walter! Great meeting the rest of you, albeit very quickly.

So good job everyone for coming out yesterday. It was cooooold standing there after having ridden for an hour and change. Work up a sweat, stand around in cold. Thankfully we moved to the less windy area otherwise it would have been brutal. And thanks to Walter for the warm coffee and hot chocolate. The doughnuts, well, they're taunting me as I type this from the kitchen so I've got mixed feelings there.

As far as the ride goes, thanks everyone for coming out. We had 7 people show up to race and GlancingAft had a hanger problem so only 6 went off. Here are the results, with lap times in parenthesis:

Maurice 43:48 (21:33, 22:15)
Ryan 46:46 (22:30, 24:16) - aka xc62801
Bill 52:52 (25:20, 27:32) - aka graveyardman
Mike 55:36 (27:45, 27:51) - aka mwlikesbikes

For the women:

Maryanne 1:07:26 (33:18, 34:08) - aka Mare45
Nadine 1:12:25 (35:27, 36:58) - aka Neen

So points go from 10 to 1 in order of finish, 2 classes, men and women. I did a lap of 26:55 before anyone got there, so bonus points for any lap that beat that, which gives Maurice and Ryan +2 and Bill +1. The other 3 bonus are for just showing up on this cold day, so +3 for everyone, as well as Will (GA), Walter, and Jake. Jake gets +6 for 3 hours of helping, Walter +4, and Will +4 (2 for the pre-ride and 2 for the offer to stay). Walter +1 each for the coffee/hc/doughnuts for an additional +3. I prefer to be generous with these highly meaningful points, obviously:

maurice: 15
xc62801: 14
mare45: 13
neen: 12
graveyardman: 12
mwlikesbikes: 10
norm: 10
walter: 10
jake: 9
glancingAft: 7

Thanks again to all who showed up, including Dan (in shorts!) and Sharon (jogging) as well. I appreciate coming out in the cold to play. And if I seemed like all I wanted to do was get the hell out of there at the end, well I did, as I was just about ready for a hot shower and some sleep. Unfortunately I had to go home and blow leaves for 3 hours. The yard is done, and all I have to show for it is a nice white coat of snow. Brrrrr it's cold out, anyone up for a snow TT?

I'm possibly open for another play date next Sunday but right now the weekly weather looks like crap. I'm going to see if someone else wants to run something this time around. Otherwise I'll try to cobble something up for next Sunday.

Snow TT? Interesting. I'll probably be up for that. After our TT I went to Ringwood to get some riding in and it was just as chilly there by Shepherd Lake. Once you got into the woods and climbing it was all good though. I got two hours in so it was pretty nice. Muddy in some regular spots like the fire roads. Ringwood is in great shape if you can find the trails. I know them well so it wasn't a problem but I could see getting lost on a trail there. Great day from top to bottom!
