Lewis Morris Challenge

The course is a bit longer than the last few yrs & a bit slower in reverse so I'm thinking it will be longer than that.

i stand by my prediction. I was running that '07 loop (which is a hair over six miles) in around 32 minutes pre ankle. winning times will be around 1:06:00.

FWIW: I think I remember racing counterclockwise there with a slight change at the end back in 2006. According to my records I did 4 laps in 2:44, which is 41 min per lap. I ran a 32x18, and to the best of my memory, that climb 2 miles in made me

32x2 = 1:04!

i know fool. but that's me. i'm saying...ahh, forget it. Under 1:06:00 was the prediction.

yeah, that climb will bring the suck again.

I rode there this morning and did the 2010 race loop in reverse:

1) I am a mid-pack Cat 2 racer and was running 40-43 min laps (3 laps). Keep in mind this was without the extra 1 mile section.

2) The gravel section Norm described is fast; definitely a place to be on your toes.

3) The last bit of fire road coming out of the woods and back to the pavillion area is seriously washed out. Like two feet deep washed out. It's easy to get around if you aren't riding side-by-side, however.

4) Overall, the trails are much more rooty than last year with all the heavy rains this winter/spring. I hope the roadies hate it.

I'm pretty sure you're describing a section that won't be in the race. This is the part of the loop that curves to the left, goes downhill, and brings you to the stream crossing right before (200 yards or so) the pavilion? If so, that's not in it this year.

Here is the bottom line about the course. As of right now the official course layout is not set. Yes it will be reversed, some modifications are possible we do have a longer course planned but that won't be known til Wed eve when the shop meets with the park for approval. The course will be setup by Fri eve.

Can you confirm that Cat 2 is only 2 laps? Or is that still up for discussion?

They could easily add the short woods singletrack with the multiple log crossings. The one by the Jocky Hollow borderline.

I think I could make Wednesday at that time work, but I won't be riding the Raleigh beach cruiser!
come on, with those extra wide cruiser bars you can climb like a champ on that bike!

weather pending (t-storms possible) I will be there 4:30p on Wed

i'm out. I have to go to a Family thing Sunday with the GF. i tried to soften up Jamie with a few beers at Walter's house last night...it didn't work, mostly cause me and him drank them all

So, anyone free to ride tomorrow? I'm available all day until 3pm. Pace will be relatively fast. Two laps, maybe three, no stopping. I'm familar with the so called "not determined" race loop. Let me know. Ill check back in the morning.
