Kittatinny Hose Down Thread

Been on vacation for 2 weeks with no biking. Felt like my legs were still on vacation. There were more short rock gardens than I remember, but I didn't endo like 2 years ago, so that's good! I got my groove on the 3rd lap and passed rocknrollgirl right before crossing the road to the grassy finish. Sorry Ruth! It was all good fun!

thanks jake

I had a great race today...I was a bit too cool, thanks norm for yelling at me as I went thru one of the fields. I fell and was more worried about my sweeeeeeeeet new bib from halters then If I was ok. But my car pool buddy dana *dnap* managed to punch herself in the face while running up a hill...she's a warrior! blood on the bike, leafs to wipe blood from face. She thinks someone snapped a pic and she has blood running down. If that's true a H2H poster is a must.

for me it was the first race

As a well educated rider that avoiding wet trails I was shocked from the condition :scared:- and had a thought of bailing …never had a chance to hit trails in such condition ….
I made a decision to stay … (thanks Liong for encouraging me!) released some air out of my tires with a hope that with the adrenalin I would manage …I was next to the finish line talking with my wife (wondering where are all the riders) when group of riders passed next to me …I forgot to figure out one critical item – where is the start line 😕….I quickly rode to the start line and started the race.
I was flying on Trail sections that looked impossible to handle in the pre-ride ,the pressure and the adrenaline boosted my technical abilities … with the need to try chase my group I made couple of mistakes on how I managing my energy – and burned myself too early in the game:drooling: , the second lap was hard – I was alone in the trail without a storage rider to push me …
Eventually I finished 16/20 and meet my goal– not to be the last in my category …
I’m hocked …Next race is in Tatum park – no excuses there, I know the names of each deer and groundhog …😀

My wetness evaluation,...Tymor and Stewart were muddier but this place was by far slicker!

A great race and BIG time thanks to the Bulldogs & Cyclecraft for putting together a great event.

And Nice Job, Poky & Utah Joe!

:popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

Had a good race placed 8th of 12. Course was alot of fun the conditions definitely seemed to call for finesse and I didn't crash so I was happy with that 😀 Seems like everyone had a good time now 2 months to get prepared for the final stretch of the series 🙂

BTW nice to meet you Luke!

Jim got sick of me complaining on here that you cant' wheelie or bunny hop 29ers so he tried to kill me. 😀

HAHAHAHA!! I was trying to keep you on your toes!!

So my race didn't go nearly as planned. I crashed hard about 1/4 way through the second loop. Trying to close a gap on SeaBeast I slipped my front wheel in a corner, happened so fast I couldn't get my hands out and smacked down at full speed face first. I jumped back on the bike and realized I snapped my shifter and bent my hanger. A few feet up the trail I had to stop and deal with the pain I had going on in my lower jaw and gather myself. Turns out I broke one of my teeth loose. At that point I got passed by tons of people and was just planning to ride back to the car. On the way back to the car, even though I was hurting, I was still catching and passing guys, I decided to stay in it and see what happened. I just rode with GraveYardMan and had fun!! Eventually I worked back up to 6th. On the car ride back I started to get some pain in my knee and now it hurts to walk. Looks like I'll be off the bike for a little bit to heal up🙄

Jim, glad you are OK. When I passed you, you were just getting up and looked totally out of it. Got to say this was a great course, I was having my best race of the year. On my second lap I pulled into 2nd or 3rd spot and was feeling great until my chain snapped and put me out of the race. Kinda sucks but I'm glad I am starting to race my way back into form that I have not had all season. See you at the next one. Great Job Bull Dogs!

Hey, no problem...I was waiting for you all of lap 2 and 3 to sneak back up on my wheel. You were in stealth mode...no grunting or swearing as you passed me up that hill. We are going to need to teach you to swear in British!!!

Great Job! Congrats on the win. I enjoyed hanging out and chatting after the race.

Ouch!!! Hope you feel better soon. Great picture. Nice quads!

I hear ya Jim, this little kitty is relentless. I was playing 1 and 2 musical bikes (after psycho roadie guy took off like a cannon and then wrapped himself around a tree)with Bill the Hammer guy for a lap and a half and I had a rock deflect my front tire and sent me into that log that was on the left and launched me like underdog. Amazing I wasn't more than just banged and scratched up but the bike took the brunt. No rear derailer shifter and the fork was in a 180 position and the rear brake and derailer cable came out of their bosses and I lost some precious minutes just trying to get it back to ride again. Finally managed to get it into a middle cog and used the front to shift but that course was just too fast to make any kind of time on. I did catch a few and finished 6. I will post on the show your booboos thread as my arm and chest are lookin nasty.
Good luck with the toof.

So ive been running these GEAX saguros tubeless with the GEAX sealant that came with them for a few months. I have been beating the shit out of these tires... and they have been taking it all in stride. Till today.
On the first lap I am bombing down one of the rocky little hills...I was excited that there wasnt anyone in front of me because I seem to get slowed down riding behind somebody going down hill... Anyway, I am feeling great till i hear that hiss.

I am saying "please seal, please seal" over and over in my head.

No dice. Front is flat.

I immediately rip the tire off the rim (which is no easy task...those saguros on stans rims are not easy) and throw the tube in use both co2s and am ready to go in about 5 minutes. I thought that was killer time (for me) for a flat fix on the trail.

I jump back on the bike to go and that's when I realize my back tire is also flat. WTF?? FML!!! 😡😡

I only had 1 tube with me and I was all out of co2s. End of race for me. There is not much worse then walking your bike out of the trails during a race. (i guess being carried out might be.,.. but then at least you have a cool story. Me? just got 2 flats)
I got back to my car and found that the back tire had sealed and held air. too bad i wasted all the air on the first flat. Next time I am bringing more co2s.
September is too far away. I need redemption.

I was surprised to see how many people got flats on the first lap. I guess they over compensated for the wet conditions and let a bit too much air out of their tires and ended up getting pinch flat. I even saw someone get a blow out while walking up his bike up a hill. Weird.
