Nothing against them and no doubt one day I'll be getting one, this made my chuckle.

Just got an email newsletter from Kingdom Trails. Class 1 e-bikes are now allowed on the trails with no restrictions or "check in".

Thinking about Black Bear and Stormin' Norman laps... 😎
Can you share? Just checked their site and not seeing any details.

I tried an eBike for the first time. During a ride yesterday, three of us had to climb a really steep hill. It was 2 real bicycles (😑) and 1 eBike. Of course, the eBike guy casually rode up the climb while me and the other guy walked/rode up …slowly.

At some point our friend says, “Hey do you want to try riding this on my bike?” (a YT decoy 4). I’ve been wanting to see what all the fuss is about so I hopped on.

First impression: Wow this is AMAZING!! I can’t believe how easy this feels. And it’s only in “trail” mode! I was blown away. 😮

Second impression: That was too easy. How much would I miss the grind and suffering? 🤔 Obviously I would need to ride one for a bit to get a real sense of the pros and cons. I certainly see the appeal.

I was contemplating renting an eBike when I visit Bentonville next week. Now I’m convinced I will. Not that a new bike is in my budget but I would love to rent one for a day to get a good sense of how they ride.

If you need the suffering just ride in eco mode or turn it off. After you are toast, go to fun mode…..

Sadly you have run out of time, liberation day will lead to much higher prices(30-60%).

Very similar to how I have felt. Bentonville will be a great place to try one. Especially true if you end up on the back 40 and want to blow your brains out because it's so boring. You can put it in turbo mode and make the drudgery go by faster. Note, I suggest avoiding Little Sugar and Back 40. Neither of these is worth it. Do some research on the area as many of the best spots in NW Arkansas are outside of Bentonville by a few hours.

I did rent e bike in Bentonville last year since we were riding 6 days in a row. In eco you will get some workout. In trail mode is cheating.

I'd say it depends on how you ride, who you're riding with and what "suffering" means to you.

You can still suffer on an e-bike if you want to. Just reduce the assist level. On most bikes, the assist levels are programable. This is how I usually ride mine with one of my riding friends who is a lot stronger than I am. I set the assist so that I can keep up with him, but I'm still working to do so.

Bentonville is fun, but it's definitely a different kind of riding than what we're used to around here. What's impressive about Bentonville is the sheer number of trails all within one general area. But for the most part, it's all Green and Blue trails with a smattering of Black features. You won't find a trail that is all Black for long stretches like some of the rockier tech trails we have around here.

Keep the political stuff to your Tariffs thread.

I’ll experiment with the modes when I rent one next week.
Rent an Orbea Rise like what one of my friends did last year when we were at Bentonville. If you like it and is a size medium I have one for sale in the Bike For Sale section. That bike has been to Bentonville twice with lots of shuttle runs up The Castle and I guarantee you it is a blast.
