So 160mm mechanical disc brakes with worn pads and poorly adjusted cables aren't powerful enough to stop a 70 lb bike going 28 mph?
🤔
itll be fineeeeeeeee

Most of these have cable disc's so poorly set up that the pads don't contact the rotors. So 160mm mechanical disc brakes with worn pads and poorly adjusted cables aren't powerful enough to stop a 70 lb bike going 28 mph?

I had to go to Hoboken last week and I nearly got hit twice by two different bicycle delivery people who almost couldn't stop their ebikes. You don't realize how dangerous poor quality and poorly maintained electric fat bikes loaded up with stuff are until you're in the thick of it. They're literally everywhere. I parked on the street just outside of an e-bike shop.So 160mm mechanical disc brakes with worn pads and poorly adjusted cables aren't powerful enough to stop a 70 lb bike going 28 mph?

Didn't see that coming.Orbea Wild 😜
I think last time I rode with you at a group ride you had a Rise. What made you upgrade to the big bike?Orbea Wild 😜
I own a 2024 Switchblade and a Shuttle AM. The switch between the two is easy and seamless. After a summer of poor health (my toddler is bringing home a lush cornucopia of viruses) and constantly needing to get back into shape, I’m officially switching my vote to “maybe.” What e-MTBs are folks who ride a lot of north Jersey tech enjoying (Ringwood, Wildcat, Mooch, etc)? The only eMTB I’ve demo’d on trail is an Orbea Wild and it just felt like way too much bike for our terrain. My daily driver is a Pivot Switchblade, so the obvious answer is a Shuttle, but I’m curious to know what folks are riding and enjoying.
Wanted full power vs mid power. Mid power rise is now officially TM buggy. Wild geo and power fits my riding style.I think last time I rode with you at a group ride you had a Rise. What made you upgrade to the big bike?
We are doing an Orbea demo next Sunday. I am slowly switching to selle saddles. I know bike fit is a personal thing but the saddle tilt is pretty severe. I see the leather is worn on top are you sitting on the top of the back of the saddle vs in the saddle when you ride?I own a 2024 Switchblade and a Shuttle AM. This lite 409 is likely 10 plus years old. It used to be my fav but now I much prefer the vt30c gel.I am slowly switching to selle saddles. @mattybfat got me into a Rise and I found myself riding harder and I got much better at tech in Mooch as the motor gives me just enough to carry more momentum (vs stalling when tired) plus shorter cranks on the Ebikes seem to help limit rock strikes which turned into confidence peddling through toubh spots. I have much more fun in the tech. I use every bit of the Rise now and just recently bought a Shuttle LT to keep up with mattyb. Oh and I'm streaky on when I can ride due to other activities in life so how good of biking shape I'm in varies but I don't feel like I can't go for a ride. Mooch is my backyard so I use to feel like I couldn't ride the good trails when I was out of shape. Nice! I just ordered a Shuttle AM. Anyone here actually ridden one? Looks like a deal with an extra batteryAnyone else notice Yamaha has really cut prices on the Moro-5,7’s? Yamaha seems to be the most reliable drive units out there. I know the bikes are 27.5 plus and the geo is different but $2600 for xt is killer.
This is exactly why I shortened the crank arms on my Orbea Rise twice. First I went from 175mm to 170mm. There was improvement but thought I can go shorter so now I've been on 165mm and I love it on flat pedals.I agree that technical riding with an e-bike is a lot of fun. The one downside is manufacturers still fit them with cranks that are too long, so you will get used to pedal strikes (one reason I tend to favor clipless on the e-bike, even through janky rocks).
My Heckler came with 165 cranks (and I run 165 cranks on my enduro bike as well). I'm now looking at 155mm options. I really want "ebWings" to match the cranks on my Megatower and Chameleon, but Cane Creek doesn't offer a Shimano version, so I'm looking at the 5Dev cranks. This is exactly why I shortened the crank arms on my Orbea Rise twice.
