Hartshorne/Huber Conditions

We try and to embrace the same philosophy and Bob, perhaps it is an age and wisdom thing🙂
In the winter if the trails are covered and we can't get out, we hike, xc ski, go for a walk, trail run, lift. This past Friday we put on our microspikes and went for a sunset trail run. It was awesome. I also do a ton of yoga. Mix it up.
Balance.
The weather will break soon. ( she says as it is snowing like crazy)

I hiked almost 9 miles in the past two days,,,loved every minute of it..4 at Hartshorn Friday,,,5 yesterday at Watchung reservation..a nice change.

We are heading out in a bit to trail run in the fresh snow. It is much easier going if you can make fresh tracks. Tough after everyone has walked on it. Six inches of fresh snow should cover up the frozen foot prints nicely.

Hartshorne had epic fat bike conditions today. Snowshoers and fat bike traffic have most of the trails pretty well packed down. Four of us added a few more miles of "grooming" today.

hmmmm, perhaps I should drive up and trail run there. The conditions for us were very tough today locally. I underestimated the amount of ummph needed to break trail running through 6 inches of powder. Thank heavens I am married to a really big engine that helped me out.

Rode there today at 8:00am and did two laps. The first lap was awesome with packed snow and no ice. During the second lap, it was 50 degrees out and everything started melting and getting soft. It was still rideable, but it became somewhat challenging. There was no exposed ice and traction was good throughout.

I can confirm it's still a bit wet at Hartshorne

I'm seeing 1-3 inches of snow in the forecast. Predictions if it doesn't rain? Trying to get a feel for how the current conditions are. Might try to swing by on my way to or after Allaire.

Conditions today were good. Generally solid with a few soft spots, but no sloppy mud. Snow and ice are gone. 3" of snow would = last hurrah for fatbikes, but I'm ready for spring, personally.
