Commuting

What a gorgeous morning it was and even better cuz i rode in with RU from Overpeck Park. Showed him the northern route to the east. Much funner with other humans thanks Chris.

Good ride this morning, thanks for showing me that new route. I should have some legs back under me in no time. I've really ramped up my volume and have cut back on my calorie intake a the same time, so my body is really feeling it.

Quite here all week still commuting?

Anyone up for a after work jaunt hudson drive to piermont tomorrow? I arrive at the GWB NJ side by 4:30ish.

Rode in Tuesday, skipped yesterday for some climbing, skipped today because lazy. I'll probably get a run in when I get home.

I'm off of work and out of town tomorrow, so I'm out. Seems like the weather might be turning for good starting next week. I'm looking forward to possible ditching jackets soon.

holy shit can we have the cold back! Nothing but drunken sailors riding bikes in the Park on my way out. It's dangerous out there. You got to hit the Park early in the morning to enjoy on a bike. It is harder to navigate in the afternoon when temp goes up then greenway and streets combined.

I came up to a stop in Harlem next to a dude who was talking to me that I didn't realize cuz the earbud thing. I pulled the bud and chated with him up Harlem hill. Turns out he see's all the time ask a few things as I do then tells me we have the KOM on the Ft lee DH. I was like really that's a horrible one to own. This could be death for someone. How do you get rid of a segment? Of course I will take it 😀

The greenway traffic (and scenery 😉) is definitely back! Time to put the whistle back into service. I forgot how nice it feels to just wear bibs and a jersey, so much awesomer then layers and gloves and cold. I did not want to get out of bed to ride in this mornign but I'm glad I did. It was a perfect morning and I made killer time.

The Fort Lee DH is no joke. Too many opporunities for bad things to happen to not approach it with caution. I almost got taken out on Monday going 30+ by a cat darting across the road.

Park has exploded with the warmer temps. This week in particular, why i bring this up you ask? Because now it's game on with heavy testosterone in the air. If you never have done loops in the park think of every guy you chased down in your local road rides x 100. I go in time after time just to roll out an hour and end up destroying myself to where the veins are popping out of my head. Its chase or be chased, good times!

think we home staters need to organize a group ride one morning just to experience this.....

from the start times posted it appears it isn't only about getting in/extra lap, it is about beating the full onslaught of traffic?

advice please?

Nice you started right by my job. Enough punchy hills to keep you honest eh.

where do you work? I work at 55th and 11th. it was a really good experience for me, getting out there. this may be just what the doc ordered for me in terms of getting rides in.

I was pleasantly surprised with the elevation changes and how much of a workout can be had. I only have 40 miles on my legs in about the past 6 months, so pretty much riding up the curb from the streets keeps me honest these days lol

Traffic by cars doesnt open till 8a
Joggers stay in their lane and as of this year they eliminated autos to single lane which opened up the center lane for cyclist.
You should definitely come one morning, i would throw hudson drive in first then into gotham. I would be willing to show anyone who wants to try this, its actually pretty easy to navigate.

Pat i work at ABC building 66th and columbus ave.

Pure example as I have ridden Park loop for over a year, yet still find ways to score some hardware ((((BOOM))))

after the fake online race I took the next week+ off riding to work

Finally rode in today with the '1speed'. 5 min slower but I actually think I prefer it. The rolling momentum of the wheels make the hills easier and I like the slow roll. I could probably gear up a few but I like the tempo for the most part. Only one hill I thought I would bounce around a bunch but it wasn't bad. I just leggo my legs.

Stupid me listened to Bill Evans and did not commute today, mad!

Coming soon full shoot of a day and life of a daily NYC commuter : )

My boy wanted a Gopro badly so i ordered one up. As soon as i can figure out how to speed up an hour and half into 2 mins i will have pure gold.
