Coffe disadvantages

I just had a conversation with a doctor that specializes in the science of recovery for endurance athletes. I specifically asked the question about coffee and any ill effects. The short answer is, it's not the coffee that's problematic its the caffeine that is should be kept to moderation. Something about it being hard on the kidneys....the end result is, for every ounce of caffeinated coffee drink 1 oz of water. 2 x16oz cups = 32oz of water. pretty straight forward. Use the momentum you have from not smoking to make other positive changes. Also, if anyone from this board ever sees you with a cig, we're going to kick you in the nuts.

I figure with all the odd titles in this section I could just use this as a blog of some sort. I got 2 rides in this week and refined my diet and did a ghey class at the gym, (millions of squats and lunges). Im installing a rope over my toilet so I can pull myself off it. I can barely walk! I hope to resume riding once sitting no longer hurts. 188lbs on the scale. Memorial day weekend goal is gonnna be 178. Down to about 3 pieces of nic gum as well. Gonna pull the plug on that sh!t real soon.

A rope? Now that's funny, mostly because I've been there. My family laughed hysterically every time I sat down or got up since either movement would produce a high pitched "Ow!".

And what are you doing on nicotene gum? How nasty is that stuff?
I always figured you to be a cold turkey kind of guy anyway.:getsome:

I got a few miles in this morning on a 29er. My friend was on my 26 so I grabbed a demo from the shop. Not my cup of tea but it was worth a try. I find that 29ers are more difficult for me to keep on the trail and less agile. I cant yank the front wheel up and steer with the rear like I can on my 26, which remains undead. Saw some old friends and had a great ride.

I was reading another thread and had a question for myself. I was of the beleif that its carbs prior to a ride and protein with 30 minutes of finishing. Does anyone else follow this idea?

Eating is always good.

Try a 650b.

Change in plans. Up to 192, as I expected from increased strength training and poor diet choices. I hate the gym and everyone in it, even the cute girls that smile and say hi make me sick because I just hate being in a sports club that much. Had a sinus infection, probly from from the water fountain at the gym, didnt ride at all last week. I started smoking 24 hours after a terrible trip to the vet hospital, walked in with my best friend and walked out with a collar, fvck that place, and they stole 3k from me within 2 hours. Im doing a new workout that revolves around bars (not that kind) but monkey bars. Found this video that has me rethinking how bad do I really want it?

At this point, I have to beleive im all in. Be back in 2 weeks with a report.

Dude, that sucks don't let this stuff derail your plans it is just a bump in the road to be bunny hopped...

No worries, and thanks for the support. A construction crew showed up that day to start a kitchen reno and dude hated nail guns more than anything. I guess when the work van showed up he knew it was time to make his move. Anyways, new program, new outlook on life. Im on a mission.

Damn dude, sorry to hear about your loss. On the plus side, trail season is right around the corner.

As far as nutrition and training goes Ive got two hurdles. First being the lack of a kitchen at home for the next month or so. As well as nowhere except the bathroom to clean utensiles and other various crap. Ive got mircowave meals that I really enjoy eating. They are easy to count calories and as Ive mentioned before if Im preparing food, even cereals, I will over eat and pick to a point where its counter productive. Im stocked up on chobani, single serving cereal boxes, and the frozen meals. I expect to have a new found fondness for home cooking once the new digs are in place.

The other hurdle is lack of intrest at the gym. My membership is long past its contactual obligation so its no big deal to bail out of there. My favorite instructor left the gym(after being asked to) and has been replaced by some creampuff who thinks hes a mix between madonna and micheal jackson. i really dont have a problem with his preference, but the twinkle toes routine at 530am isnt going to work for me.

At home Ive got all the crap for old school training. Pull up bar, bench, smith, tires, sledgehammers, and a tool box that has a stereo for my ministry jams. It has served as a hangout for the guys and a proving ground for the boys. I may have to put it to proper use. As for now Im following barstarz on youtube.

Can someone please explain the disadvantages of salt in a diet. I just love an once or two soy on my fish. Is this bad? Thanks.

As for training im 3 days into the bars and will be taking today off from them. Ive been scouting my area for places to work out but at this point can only think of a set at the outlet malls near exit 100. I will supplement my workout with pushups today. Ive been riding with a second year rider who is very strong. Although I feel like im pushing it when we ride together I still dont ever get slayed by him(I can see the day is coming when he will). I hooked up with my ol school crew yesterday and they let me have it for a bit. it was nice to work a little harder, but much more enjoyable to be out front. Pine needles and a fast rolling low tread tire was not working in my favor either. Still on the fence about a gym membership.

firstly, don't believe that body fat% or BMI sh!t. it's a hoax. the only accurate way to determine body fat is with the pool test...or water test...whatever it's called...where you get submerged. the pinch test is goofy and those scales are subject to their own whims. do like dusty and measure by a) how you feel and b)how your pants fit. at the end of the day, those are usually the only two thing people REALLY care about.

Still on the fence about a gym membership.

if i were you, i'd just kill the gym membership. you hate it AND you've got all this old skool hardcore stuff already in your possession, use that stuff. you'll get far more out of doing 45 minutes there and killing it to ministry than creeping around a foofey gym just b/c you feel like you should.

i've been considering killing my gym membership and just doing push-ups, sit ups and pull ups at home. i used to enjoy the gym but now...eh...every time i go i feel like i shoudl be on my bike.
