Bring your Pizza skillz

You went all-out. I want to kill ~1/4 of the deck and install a brick oven. How would you rate the frustration quota for your project?

I overbuild everything and it took way too much of our time this summer.

It was just me and Mrs Oleg.

When I planned this, I underestimated the amount of labor and $$$ it would take.

At the end we are very pleased and it was rewarding to see it through.

We had a bunch of fires already and Pizza, Bread and Roasted Veggies are great.

Still dialing in our temperatures, but it forces you to leave the house and spend time outside.

Family, friends and neighbors are impressed and everybody is asking when are they coming over to hang out and eat again.

Damnit... this thread is making me look into building an oven. I already have a wood fired evaporator for making maple syrup. It would be great if I could use the evaporator for both but the internet says to just make a separate oven. This could be fun project and a good way to use all the wood on my property.

What did you use for cement? When researching on smokers, I read that concrete bricks would emit some chemicals and that only high heat masonry bricks should be used. Looks awesome and I think @Jeremy knows you can surely make a pie
We purchased a Pre Cast Oven Kit

The Kit contains everything including Refractory Cement.

and here is the installation manual.

They do have brick oven kits as well and use Fire Bricks.

It was a lot of work, actually we under estimated the effort and $$$ it would take.

In the end it was worth it.

Anything that makes you go outside for fresh air is worth it.

It is a gathering and focal point for our outdoor space and I over-engineered it to a point that well in the future when Civilization collapses and all is gone, Mutant Children will gather around this to make sacrifices to appease the Alien Overlords.
