Looks like a snow day in NJ! No extra points for me, but Baby Jesus ride for me. Drew blood as usual .... darn cacti! Any of you ready to come visit ??
Such beautiful scenery
🙂 Much better than the slushy mess outside my door!
I had to run some errands today, so I checked the forecast on weather.com. It was about 3:30, and the forecast said that occasional showers were going to start around 6. Due to my lack of proper biking rain gear, I wasn't going for rain point, so I figured that gave me plenty of time to run the errands on my bike, and at least pick up a ride point. I biked over to my first stop, taking about 20 minutes or so, and did some quick shopping. As I walked out of the store, I realized that it was raining. Nice job on the forecast, Weather Channel. My next stop is in a strip mall across the street, so I head over there, and take care of business. I then have a decision to make... I could either just finish off the remaining part of the 45 minutes for the ride point, or I could start the clock over, and go for the 45 minutes of rain. Of course, there's the danger that it could stop raining before that, and I'd miss the point. Well, I figured that since I was going to get wet either way, I might as well put in the extra time and go for the rain point. So, I just rode around some of the local streets, hoping that the rain wouldn't stop. [This is probably the first time biking where I've hoped the rain WOULDN'T stop.] I reached the 45 minutes just in time... my water resistant, but not waterproof, outer layer, which was previously repelling water, was now starting to get soaked, but hadn't managed to get through to my inner layer yet, although my feet were soaked.
By 6 PM, the time the Weather Channel had forecast rain to start, there was not a drop in sight.
