Biggest loser

I like this graph - it is from veloviewer.com
Takes strava data, and visualizes it in different ways.

This is set to compare total activity time year-over-year. (it can be set to do distance, or climbing or ..., and can be set to certain sports or groups of sports)
Seems i'm right at the average now - Last year I came out of the gate well with Kev's BIYF+indoor 1 pointer, before breaking my wrist.
The year then fell flat on its face.

Looking at the whole year view - it is obvious why i felt so good at the end of 2019.
Projections for this year at the current rate fall below 2019, but a nice bounce off the other years (esp 2020/21.)

If you do strava, then another $15 or so per year gets a bunch of comparative stuff.
Easier to see how I got to where I was, vs just thinking about where I was (Trust the Process!)

E2M program Round 1, Week 4, Day 6 (Sat.) and Dry January

Diet
Stuck to the food and water routine perfectly. Citrus at each meal was allowed this week. Kinda tired of eating an orange at each meal. Week 5 has some changes with the approved vegetables. Only green veggies this week. Going to miss what was taken away. Still no dairy, sugar or starches. Celebration meal was a proper snow day breakfast this morning and broke many of the rules. Bread, butter, syrup, pork, and creamer in the coffee. Haven't had any of that since starting. https://www.mtbnj.com/forum/threads/what-are-you-cooking-right-now.38426/post-1118678

Exercise
Didn't ride the trainer this morning because planning to spend some time digging out after the snow. 4 days of exercise this week so far. Saw hand surgeon on Wed and gave me full approval to start doing things within reason, as pain and mobility allow, which isn't much right now. He said riding is permitted, just don't fall off a mountain.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight =235
1/29/22 Current weight = 215
Diff: weekly down 3, total lost = 20
Measurements stayed the same as my left arm has increased since the splint is off and using it more. Chest down an inch?. Clothes fitting a little big.

Wife wasn't feeling 100% last week, stuck to meal plan and no exercise, down 2lbs for the week and total of 10lbs. The friend who is on Round 3 of this plan sent me a picture from Oct '21 during Round 2 and a current pic. He looks worse than what you will see below and now has a 2 pack. He's down 50 since starting in Aug '21.

From some comments earlier in the week from @cassinonorth and @iman29, I was reluctant to post this, but for entertainment purposes only.

This picture was from 2005 in Punta Cana, D.R. during a friend's destination wedding. 36 y/o and at around 260-270lbs, from lifting weights while not G.A.F. what I ate or drank. Wasn't long after this I got my shit together, bought a more modern mtb than what I currently had, which was a '93 Spec Rockhopper, and started riding more. Anyone on here that I've met in person or have seen social media pics of me, know that I'm a Clyde, but not that big in a long time. From current pics, I can see many changes and planning to continue.

E2M program Round 1, Week 5, Day 6 (Sat.) and still Dry January in Feb.

Diet
Still following the I.F. dieting plan. Cheat meal this afternoon. Making the short neighborhood walk to Tonewood Brewing's new facility, then to The Old Rail Tavern for dinner. So I will be breaking my Dry January streak. No plans to continue adult beverages outside the cheat meal time. Nothing changing for the meal plan next week. Sleep has been so much better, resting H.R. is low, and nagging aches and pains are gone except for my surgically repaired thumb.

Exercise
E2M Plan circuit training and indoor riding on the Stages spin bike using The Time Crunched Cyclist went as planned.

Weight
1/2/22 Starting weight =235
2/5/22 Current weight = 212
Diff: weekly down 3, total lost = 23
Measurements still not much change to consider. Clothes fitting loose. Going to need to make some alterations to my belt or get a new one. Still have my goal of 30lbs in 8wks.

Wife was feeling better than last week and got in more exercise. However, maintained her weight. Still down 10lbs in 5 weeks. Other friend in Round 3 has hit a plateau the last 2 weeks with no movement, but said he's been hitting the weights more.

After Thursday’s off the bike workout I took it a little easier yesterday and did an hour on zwift 5 min high cadence 5 Min low cadence just sitting in zone 2. Had to concentrate on the time since I was also watching Netflix but it made the time go by fast.

When I was done I noticed my left calf was a little sore /tender but i didn’t think much of it. Woke up today to go ride zwift and it’s a little more sore so probably strained which means no bike for a few days👎🏻

BS at work is interfering with my diet(stress eating again so I'm a bit scared to see the scale) and my schedule so I had to bump yesterday's workout to today. I need a better work/life balance than what this place allows. Anywho, the over/unders on this one were easier than the 2 20 minutes at lower power. Taint no fun doing those low steady spins. Maybe I just need to toughen up like the Kung fu masters punching logs(not like I'm in the saddle that long in real life rides though).

The MIL came over today to see the kids and I’m preparing this nice dinner of salmon and veggies for us and the kids. At some point the conversation shifts… She starts asking where she could get a good burrito around here, and it devolves into Taco Bell has a good burrito 🙄. Anyway, I appeal to her needs and go get her burrito, tacos, and nacho grande and somehow survive the ride home without eating the entire order. I then present her and my family with all the goodies and then proceed to eat my plate of salmon, green beans, and edamame. I don’t know if the pattern of healthy eating is sticking or I’m broken. Either was I felt good about my food choices afterwards. Win?

Any day you don’t eat Taco Bell is a win.

Chamois cream
It's not a chafing thing, it's pressure from sitting too long. Unless cream helps with that too. Never tried it so that's why I'm asking. If I pedal standing for a bit it goes away but I can't seem to do that on the trainer without blowing myself up whereas outside I do it all the time.

Only thing I can think is it’s your seat.

The trainer definitely exaggerates every fit issue. I’m constantly trying to find the perfect height, tilt, and position in the saddle. I think I need to find a new one even though these seem like they’ve been working the last few years.

Started off at 198. Now 87 thanks to the new scale and the alternative metric system. Rewards self with birthday souffle'.

Go pop-over instead of souffle - then do the Yorkshire Pudding thing!

One of the changes that is screwing with my sit bones is that I'm not bending at the hip flexors,
instead i'm arching (rounding?) my back. It's because my gut is in the way. Think I mentioned this?
So I'm grabbing a riser block from Ian, and i'll probably move my bars up. Will report if that helps.

Well I've entered the stage of rapid weight swings from day to day. I weighed In 177.5 lbs 2 days ago and up to 180.4 today this has been my trend for the past 3 weeks. Usually takes me another 5 days to drop bellow that lowest weigh in but I'm always trending the right direction when I zOom out. On friday I was down 22.5lbs I feel so much better physically and my resting heart rate has gone down by 15bpm over 5 weeks time. Finding it harder to ride the trainer for longer than 35 minutes I just get incredibly boored of it. Went out to dinner last night but found a healthier option on the menu so didn't really impact the deit too much.

Im having the same weight bounce but slowly the high and low numbers drop. Ive been riding longer on the trainer when i ride so boredom is a problem. Ive taken to watching YouTube videos of fishing interviews and tactics for stuff i do. I never wanted to spend the time sitting there watching before but now since im stuck it works. Ive also started breaking up the riding even if its in the same relative timeframe. I use to force myself to keep going. Now ill go do something then come back. Or lift weights in between.

Anyone that weighs themselves daily is mentally much stronger than me. I can't deal with that type of change day to day.
Daily is the way to go especially when you start to fluctuate alot otherwise you might have a really great weigh in one week and a horrible one the next and want to give up but if you do it everyday you can clearly see a trend line even if there's alot of ups and downs from day to day.

Might give this a shot I usually lift then ride the trainer then hit the punching bag maybe do 25 minutes on the trainer then lift then trainer again for 25 or more minutes then hit the bag. Worth a shot. Wife is also interested in getting a rowing machine I'm considering it but i just dropped 1k on weights and a power rack so I would want to spend under 500 on a rower. any recommendations in that price range would be great if anyone has any.
