Biggest loser

Starting weight 216 lbs. (12/30)
Fighting weight 195 lbs (4/1)

When I weighed myself at the gym on Saturday, it said 210.5. I was sure this was wrong because I was 213.5 only a few days prior. Today I weighed myself at home and I am a legit 210 lbs!

Unlike last weekend where I sat on the couch binging on beer and salty food, this weekend I spent most of it outdoors with my kids. I also chalk this up to my consistent weight training routine, which has noticeably increased my muscle mass. At 49 its definitely helped boost my metabolism.

2/1

Down 10.5lbs for the month. This last week was a pound. I shoveled for six or seven hours this weekend and may have over estimated the calories. With all the snow in the ground here (I averaged 18-20”) riding is going to be tough this week as there is no shoulder plowed and our roads are pretty bad for riding right now. Will probably walk a lot this week, plus wrench on the Jeep and do Pilates. I am tempted to go pick up a fat bike but spring is near. Hoping snow clears with the warmer temps and rain coming.

Tuesday check in. Nothing gained. Nothing lost.

It's been a month. I've been keeping track of my calories in/calories out - I've had 3 cheat days this month. I did have Reeses Peanut Butter Cups today - I already ran this morning and will go to CrossFit later to make up for it. It was one of those days.

It's been awesome to see everyone's progress - but hard not to be down on myself. But...I've developed some new "habits" - I get up at 4:30 to get my a$$ to the gym before school regularly and I work out after school (ride or CrossFit) on the days I don't have meetings. We haven't been eating out like in the past...and I'm finding healthier recipes.

Today starts a new month...

This thread is a good influence because today while I could have ridden outside for an hour of rolling around and freezing my ass off, I decided that I would get much more value out of an indoor training session. Plus it probably takes me an extra 20 minutes just to find all the layers to wear.

I had Netflix on the iPad running the Tiger King follow up season about that other slimy dude Doc Bhwan something just to have it on in the background. I didnt pay much attention to the miles/time just how many low cadence intervals I wanted to do. I am finding I spend too much time at higher cadence indoors so the idea here is to keep more time under tension with lower gears and big ring only. Felt good without blowing myself up for more sessions later in the week.

I’ve been stuck at the same weight for three weeks. Despite that, I did put in 500 Zwift miles during January, plus I lifted, xc skied, climbed and rowed. I’m definitely in better shape than I started the year but thought the weight would come off faster. This also with only eating take out a couple times and no booze. I was really hoping to not have to count calories, but looks like that’s the next step.

did you do any tape measurements? moving the weight from the love handles to the guns is totally acceptable!!!!

Nice job on the 500!

Been there many times. For me, if I don’t count calories I stay fat. Even with no booze.

Just a suggestion and it’s different for everyone.

For the zwift sessions this month try to mix up some different kinds of workouts than before. Just spinning steady is good to get started but mixing in shorter HIIT sessions 1-2 times a week can help stretch past your current levels and burn more calories and fat. And this is back when I only was following YouTube videos.

Been there as well. No matter how much riding, other exercise, cutting back on beer, reducing portions, eating plants, 3 meals and healthy snacks.....it would come off slowly, then stop.

Doing this fitness plan was a reset to my body and I'm seeing results like never before. I'm not counting any calories. It's a combo of many things. No dairy, no added sugars, and no carbs from grains/starch seem to be the big reason. Dry January was a big help too. Keep going and don't just look at the scale.

Thanks, I’ve been doing the 10 week ftp plan. I usually do the traditional off season training with 2-3 months of z2, then more z3 sweet spot, then z4-z5 in the spring. I’m actually fairly happy with my cycling fitness, it’s just all my weight gain than spoils it. My ftp went from 4 watts/kg down to probably below 3 watts/kg, mostly because of the 40lbs I gained over 2-3 years.

My usual Tuesday weigh-in...not good. I actually gained. Granted, I did have a big serving of ice cream Sunday and my dinner last night had some salt...just frustrating when you've been tracking your calories in/out for the past 3 weeks...I'm just hoping that my running/CrossFit/riding will pay off come spring.
I am with you. NOTHING has changed. Transitioning to intermittent fasting now from the Whole 30. Hello bread, goodbye dinner. 🙂

My scale is playing the weight game. Yesterdays weigh in I was at 215.5 which was a one pound
Loss for the prior week. I was exhausted all day yesterday and went over my calories by 300. Weighed myself this AM and was 214. Maybe I just held onto a ton of water after seven hours of snow shoveling. Weird. Just going to stay the course either way. Tougher week ahead with all the rain when it comes to cardio.

I was hoping to be able to report this and here goes:

Starting weight 1/3 - 206.4
One month in 2/3 - 185.8
THATS - 20.6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy crap it's actually working! All through the pandemic I tried to cut food out and lose weight and basically said to myself that I'm no spring chicken, and I won't be able to lose weight like I have in the past. Well I can clearly see that's bullshit! I feel better than ever, am riding much stronger, and with a healthy diet the weight continues to fall off. My goal of 180 by March 15th should be easily in reach by the end of February if I stay on the same track. I've gotta say it makes me want to keep pushing this to see what my body will level off at.

Oh and I've been having a beer each Saturday as a reward since I do miss the taste of beer, I had an extra one Tuesday since I just got a case of good craft beer in and it wrecked me. Not even a whole beer. I had 2/3 of it and had such a bad headache the next day that it reaffirms my choices and my body is telling me to be good.
