it's still a good way to get a feel
I personally rarely go on feel, just never liked that metric or HR very much.
Someone like @UtahJoe can comment about power on the mtb, I believe ot isn’t as useful because so variableI have a power meter for the indoor bike so that's how I've been doing bike workouts, runs I've been sticking with Z2 paces which I know since they're almost all on the same route I've ran for 3 years now.

Ya I thought the race data would be interesting, but at the end of the day, after 3 or 4 years of data... It was the same thing in an xc race... Coasting or bleeding out of my eyeballs. At that time the stages was the only real option and I broke 4 of them... The data didn't line up with my power tap on my road bike.... And doing intervals on trails is pretty much useless. If you are using the mtb on some steady ground for intervals, etc... Like occasionally I used mine on a rail trail, it was usefulSomeone like @UtahJoe can comment about power on the mtb, I believe ot isn’t as useful because so variable
Will this be your first xc race? That actually makes a ton of sense. I did the favero/xpedo hack for a ride at Lew Mo last year and it wasn't super useful in the park, more on the Patriot's Path.
My first XC race in April is only 10 miles so that's just pin it for the hour-90 minutes?
Which category are you racing? Also I wouldn’t stress your first race, just try not to go too hard from the whistle. It’s easy to blow yourself up in the first few minutes. That actually makes a ton of sense. Cat 3 is really chill in my experience. Mostly beginners and smaller fields. You may do better than you expect.Cat 3. I definitely am not expecting much. Getting to the starting line at 175lbs will make it a crazy success tbh. It sparked me back to regular training which was kinda the hope.
Fear of embarrassment is a hell of a drug.
Oh was this this past year or 2020? My running partner Kristine had a broken wheel this year so I didn't goUnless you count mountain man where I ended up bloodied by the the leaves. I believe you were witness to that poopfest

I did eat a brownie during the ride but it was my only cheat...
🔥 New scale.WTF, back up to 198. Caloric intake alone says I should be losing weight, not to mention that I'm actually exercising more. Must be excessive stress making me hold onto fat or something. Maybe I really should've peed on my scale.

Woke up feeling great yesterday. Had a few hours of work in the morning then did 45 mins on the Peloton. My first meal was at 1pm - organic chicken soup loaded with veggies.
Then the playoffs happened. Alcohol, THC, Five Guys, milkshakes, cupcakes… 😕.
