Biggest loser

it's still a good way to get a feel

Feel and an internal measurement system is nirvana! These softwares are awesome and i could argue having one is the equivalent of working with a single monitor but mo matter have many you work with knowing your body is great because it’s true personal.

I would start establishing a very precise PPE/RoPE hierarchy. Not a 1-3 model but something that also separates cardio and neuromuscular.

It will likely change over time as your body/fitness changes but the foundation on how you bucket things will be there for you during those changes.

I personally rarely go on feel, just never liked that metric or HR very much.

Cool- there is progression to everything. But without a shadow of doubt, power is the dominate metric. However, it being the only measure in a plan makes the plan fragile.... especially when top end intervals start coming into play.

Three week progress report!

Start: 208.3
Current: 199.5
Down: 8.8
Target: 172

Still on track for -10 in January. No improvement in my gut situation. Still feels like I'm "full" -
And I really don't feel any lighter. 8.8 lbs is a little more than a gallon of water, but I'm drinking quite a bit,
and fat is lighter (less dense) than water - that says i'm losing it somewhere!

Still haven't done anything with the weights other than grab some small dumbells and remind myself what the movements
feel like. Like recruiting recruiters ? No consistent cardio either - was hoping it would be more comfortable below 200.
we will see.

Got on the zwifter last night and something was way off. Suffering on the flats! Should have stopped and cycled the power.
Will look again later, but damn these legs hurt. My BT HR monitor decided to stop working again, zwifter setup needs BT, and my bike one is ANT.
Guess I should remedy that.

The bumps in the picture are from measuring in the afternoon, cause forgot in the morning.

I had some sensor glitches again. I just kept to the recommended cadences and as close to the target watts as I could but wasn't paying too much attention to the power. This one felt really good, even after a day of work. I'm definitely feeling better, not quite 100% but getting there. I'm going to stay about here for another week then do a ramp test and start another training plan. I will weigh myself tomorrow morning before going to work

I have a power meter for the indoor bike so that's how I've been doing bike workouts, runs I've been sticking with Z2 paces which I know since they're almost all on the same route I've ran for 3 years now.

I personally rarely go on feel, just never liked that metric or HR very much. I have to figure out what I want to do with my XC bike for racing though...no power meter on there.
Someone like @UtahJoe can comment about power on the mtb, I believe ot isn’t as useful because so variable

Ya I thought the race data would be interesting, but at the end of the day, after 3 or 4 years of data... It was the same thing in an xc race... Coasting or bleeding out of my eyeballs. At that time the stages was the only real option and I broke 4 of them... The data didn't line up with my power tap on my road bike.... And doing intervals on trails is pretty much useless. If you are using the mtb on some steady ground for intervals, etc... Like occasionally I used mine on a rail trail, it was useful

I mean if you love data like me, it was neat to have, but I can't say that mtb race data was ever overly useful.

That actually makes a ton of sense. I did the favero/xpedo hack for a ride at Lew Mo last year and it wasn't super useful in the park, more on the Patriot's Path.

My first XC race in April is only 10 miles so that's just pin it for the hour-90 minutes?
Will this be your first xc race?

Which category are you racing? Also I wouldn’t stress your first race, just try not to go too hard from the whistle. It’s easy to blow yourself up in the first few minutes.

Cat 3. I definitely am not expecting much. Getting to the starting line at 175lbs will make it a crazy success tbh. It sparked me back to regular training which was kinda the hope.

Fear of embarrassment is a hell of a drug.
Cat 3 is really chill in my experience. Mostly beginners and smaller fields. You may do better than you expect.
In Cat 2 the competition gets a lot harder as it’s the biggest field. If you don’t start well you get stuck navigating traffic for the whole race (and everyone that blew up halfway through the race).

Unless you count mountain man where I ended up bloodied by the the leaves. I believe you were witness to that poopfest

Oh was this this past year or 2020? My running partner Kristine had a broken wheel this year so I didn't go

And ouch! Well no sweat in your first one..., You couldn't possibly do any worse than I did in my first one.... I wasn't last in cat 3 but pretty close. Takes time to learn what you can and can't do with your pace, etc.... Just ride clean and get thru it

WTF, back up to 198. Caloric intake alone says I should be losing weight, not to mention that I'm actually exercising more. Must be excessive stress making me hold onto fat or something. Maybe I really should've peed on my scale.

Woke up feeling great yesterday. Had a few hours of work in the morning then did 45 mins on the Peloton. My first meal was at 1pm - organic chicken soup loaded with veggies.

Then the playoffs happened. Alcohol, THC, Five Guys, milkshakes, cupcakes… 😕.

Maybe hypnosis would help 😃

I binged on 2 NA beers and some summer sausage on awful water crackers w cheese.
Should have skipped the cheese.

Went to bed at halftime of the 49r game.
