Anyone ever hike the appalachian trail?

Nope but that would be an epic adventure for sure... I know someone who did the whole thing.

I'm gonna have plenty of time on my hands in another year. Biggest issue would be wifey. But I figure if I jog/fast hike it I could do it in less than 3 months?

i would not do it alone my friend.... start with weekends in the ADK and hike Mt. Mary

I did about 1/5th of it. Section hiking.

Did you just read A Walk in the Woods?

No just reading about it on the internet. Would prolly be a good idea to read one of those books. Did you do sections by yourself or with others? How many miles per day?

I few miles here or there solo. Most of the section hikes where 3-4 day overnights with a couple of friends. Longest day we did was around 18 miles bust most of the times we closer to 11-13 miles.

A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson is hilarious and informative. Read up and buy the right gear.

The first time we went I was around 22 and had ZERO experience. I brought 50 ft. of rope, canned food, an army issue folding shovel, and camping gear (NOT hiking gear, roughly half the weight). My packed weighed in at 76 lbs. It was a disaster!

My buddy Keith did it. It was definitely a life changing trip for him since he still talks about it like 20 years later.
His GF just finished or is about to finish all 46 peaks too.

I did all NJ after high school graduation. You know; bout three years ago😀
Which is short but probably the worst trail conditions out of the whole trail. Growing up essentially on it, I have come across many who were doing it and all have said its one of the roughest sections.
