I'm having some wheels built and I am stuck on the rims. I'm down to the ztr 355 and the mavic 717. I will probably go tubeless, but the 819 are way too heavy so I am ruling them out.
I really like the rim shape of the stans', plus they are lighter and more tubeless friendly. My wheelbuilder is hesitant to build the wheels with the ztrs because he has had experience with them flexing alot more laterally than he would like.
My thinking is that running tubeless, the 717s will allow the tire to move more laterally due to the 2mm narrower rim bead with, in which case it's a toss up as to which rim will feel less solid.
Now, I want to find someone who rides the stan's rims that can tell me about them. I saw pixy's post on mtbr, but that probably isnt a fair comparo since the I9 setup is the ultimate in stiffness.
Anybody?
