Allamuchy bridge curse!

Who the F@#k gave me a picture??

My house looks like a civil war hospital ward, there's bloody rags everywhere. My plan was to glue cloth to my skin above and below the wound and then pull it together and glue straps between the 2 cloth patches to hold it together but 1 of my initial gauzes is all fused up in the main cut and as i soak and make attempts to get it off it opens the whole thing up and it starts gushing. So I think I'm just gonna let it stay fused and let the skin reject it later cause it's all that's holding me together. Most people are saying that it's looking amazingly good considering.I helped gut some more of the new LBS space today and it didn't bleed thru the bandages like yesterday but i'm exhausted from having 1 useless leg.I' think if i stay focused i'll be well enough to have Sean pull me around Stewart in a trailer on Sun..............

Do you not have insurance or something? This whole thing seems kinda ludicrous to me.

norm, i didn't have insurance for most of my *adult life, including when i rode bmx. that left me not going to the hospital for two broken kneecaps(seperate instances), a snapped ligament, a 12 mm steel axle through, yes through the back of my skull and several other serious injuries. it may seem ludicrous, but medical bills are ludicrous for the uninsured. the only one i actually went to the hospital for, i only went because i had a brain hemmorage and didn't know where i was, so my friends walked me the 11 blocks there....

if brett is not going to hit the hospital, as long as he irrigated it well and got out all the foreign matter, he may be fine. i'd keep an eye on it tho... if that thing starts pussing up, festering and draining, you better hit the doc. infections can get ugly fast. buddy of mine did the same thing out in the middle of Jim Thorpe PA (the flap was big enough to hide wallet under) and got his knee infected. he was on IV ab for a while because of some leftover trail funkadoo under his flap.

Hope you irrigated it well - remember horses and dogs share the trails, and they usually leave behind "packages", which could have ended up in your knee:eek:

Mergs is right - infections can get ugly really fast, which could have you missing alot of the prime bike season

It's ok - he can cut it off at the knee with Jake's chainsaw, attach a cedar post to the stump and back on the bike in no time. :)

I understand not having insurance and if you have no money it is what it is. But there are generic free/cheap clinic places out there and if worse comes to worse just skip on the bill. Better than amputating your leg from above the knee down. You know hey maybe Brett is a big wimp and this is no big deal. Or maybe this is something that should be looked at. I have no idea. But the expression "meatflap" really suggests that he should get it taken care of. Or should have, past tense.

I'm not a pro-medicine/technology flake nor am I the Unabomber. I fall solidly in between. I thought I was pissing blood a month ago so I didn't tough it out, I went to get it looked at. It costs me $10 to piss in a cup and have the doctor tell me I'm fine. If I went to a clinic it probably would have been $0, even though I would have had to sit in the waiting room for 3 hours. Whatever I like to read so no big deal.

Hey it's obviously a personal call but I'm just saying it's probably a good idea to get it looked at. There really are no Tough Guy end-of-year awards so it's really sort of a no-brainer from my perspective.

i also skipped out on a doctor visit for pissing blood. it was from slamming my soldier ont a stem on a dirt jump gone awry. so i knew it was just a wound in my ahem, and also knew that my urine would keep it clean, since that's what keeps piercings that go through the urethra clean while healing, so i didn't worry about it. how does one go about finding these free clinics?

hahahaha, never had one of those, don't worry. debated it, but there were sufficient reasons for not getting it.

ah, nope, was actually dating one at the time who convinced me i didn't need it. all my piercings have been done by female piercers.

Well said Norm - there are plenty of clinics out there for medical treatment, although I dont' advocate skipping out on the bill - lets face it, most of have bikes that cost $$$ so we should be able to afford to see a doctor.

Thanks. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying anyone should skip the bill. Let's just say worry about how to pay for it (or not) after the dust setlles.

What's insurance?

I only spritzed it w/ hyperxide and water 4 like 5 seconds. Our current society coddles the weak.Natural selection dictates that if I get cut and then fall in sewage I need to get up and keep moving or the gruop will leave me to die.If my body can't fight infection w/ me using some common sense practices than I am defective and need to suffer the consequences.I had ins for 10 mos. in my entire life and in that time I was diagnosed w/ the stuff i spoke on in the lyme thread. All the way to the third opinion and specialists they gave me a grim prognosis and a short lifespan. After an inconclusive spinal tap i thought why am i listening to drs w/ a lower iq than me and just left.I am experienced w/ injury and have gone to walk ins before to just get triaged cause sometimes it's just to much mess to clean up without passing out.I'm doing better everday..............

I'm to soft to be a wildabeast..

They are in a life and death situation every day.Did you ever read the last post of MPS II?

That's the old form of natural selection. Society has changed. The old natural selection says that if I want your bike, I rip your limbs off and take your bike. You can't really pick and choose what to rally against and remain logically consistent. Not sure how you can justify riding a bike or driving a car in that paradigm.

One great thing about society is that you can pick and choose what to use and you don't really need to buy into any of it fully.

Totally down w/ the old school

That's what i meant about consequences.I realize that for every 7 houses that i can pillage ,there's also 1 draw house and 2 where the husband kills me.Alpha rises.I wish i could not have a car.My weakness is I MUST have hot water and there's no springs around here.................

I got my sock and shoe on in an almost normal fashion this am.The bleeding has stopped and I have some articulation(no more peg leg swing).I think I'm over the hump.I'm gonna have some serious mental issues w/ getting back on the horse i think...............................
