All A Muchy redux

What is the expected turnout?

I'm still on the fence for joining the ride. My old legs and lungs are still recovering from last weekend's Vermont 50.

RyderX,

How many people do you expect?
Start is at 8:30, correct?
Are there signs to the parking at Tranquility? What should I look for? I've always parked over on the other side.

Thanks,
Barry

I hear that, my legs are still a bit rubbery from the VT 50, and I am old also.
I don't have a clue how many riders will show up, though be 1 or 12 it will be a good fun day in the woods. If you take exit 19 from 80 W and head North on Rt 517 the parking area is about 1.2 miles down on your right. Look for a dirt road that heads due East. If you go past a large farm stand on the right you've gone too far. The ride is rolling out of the parking area at 8:33 AM. Hope to see you out there.

Crap

I didn't know RyderX and Kris Weber are the same person.

You killed my time at the Vermont 50 last weekend. Without my flats I would have been in at 6:21 - you would have still killed me by an hour. Not sure what I may be getting myself into.

Yeah I had few technical glitches myself last weekend. The topper was a rip in my rear tire with less that 2 miles to go. I had stans in it, though it just oozed out the hole. I gotta say nothing beats the sound of a set of Mavic SL wheels bashing into roots, rocks and the odd snow gun water line.
😉

OK, I think I'm in. I've got to see if I can find another tube as a spare for my bike. I didn't get to the shop this weekend to pick up one after using two unexpectedly last weekend.

don't let that stop you. i'll bring a patch kit, and if you have a 29er, i'll have spare tubes at the truck.

At least the Pipes were clearly marked with Bright Orange Paint😛

But I'll bet (towards the end) that down hill, right turn after the second wood bridge was a bitch with a flat, huh?

I blasted through the course tape and nearly took out a photographer. She looked at me like I stole from the poor box in a church.

Someone's definitely bringing sandwiches, right? I didn't get to the supermarket so PB&Js is all I'll have.

See ya there...

Good luck! I hope you guys have a blast. It would be nice to do something epic on a SUNDAY once in a while! As soon as I hear a ride is on Saturday I immediately know I can't go, hence my delightfully sarcastic "I'm out" post. I have 4 kids and the wife works. I may even have to bring them to the picnic. ps. Ed Tschopp says hello Weber. Wish I was going guys. Have fun.

Glad you guys had a great ride. Dan and I ended up catching up with another group that we each knew some of the guys and rode for about 4 hours and had a great time.

The four mile or so climb at the beginning was a good indicator that we would just hold you guys up and everything worked out for the best. On my best day, I may have been able to not hold y'all up too much but today was not that day. At least I finally got to ride the west side of Allamuchy - and RoleyPoley (sp?) was awesome.

That was swell!! I had to take a few cheater shortcuts to stay w/ the ride cause the 5 amigos were flying and i was dying. The halfway buffet was also most delightful.Thanx KW.................

Arrived late, almost yakked on the first climb (beer from last night). The front guys just sped off. It would've been painful to try to stay with the group. So Me and Barry buggered about for a bit until, like Barry mentioned, we met with another group. We hit rolly polly and then started heading down Ice Cream (I think). I had a spectacular rear tyre explosion. I'm officially retiring the crappy Resolution Pros - 4 wall rips!!

A nice ride with the second group over moon rock and looping back past Dean's memorial. Met up with mtbdawgjeff and his group then it was back up Icec Cream, scooted around a few bits the the long white trail downhill to the cars. I'd run out of water but had a couple of bottles in the car so refilled the camel, said "cheerio" to the group then headed back up the orange trail and purple to do another loop of rolly polly. I was so pissed off with my crap performance the first time that I wanted to redeem myself. Climbed it a lot better with the middle chainring the second time. Blasted back to the car and had just loaded my bike when the Speedster group came in. So I stayed out as long as they did, even if I didn't match the miles. Just shy of 23 in the end:

I forgot to wear the HR thing but I would say +180 all the way!

Thanks Kris,
Great ride. Felt good to be tortured. Very strong group.
I guess, its great pain, great gain.
Thanks for the ride guys
Jim

Geez Dan, I didn't know you were going to do Rolly Polly again. I may have joined you but then again, I went to Wendy's for a double with cheese and home for an hour nap. Part of the reason I can't keep up with Kris and the gang!

Thank you to everyone who came out. We rolled out at 0833 hrs. on the dot, and basically rode like banshess, for a hair over 4 hrs. of saddle time. With Joe on his singlespeed, Sean on a 29'r singlespeed, Keith from Long Island, JMG, and Brent, it was a rather entertaining day. We all took turns throwing down the hurt, but stuck together and finished together. The food and drink stop (with expresso shots) was well needed, though I think the resulting 30+ minute stop before climbing the red trail was the hardest thing I've done in months on a bike. :drooling: Can anyone say "heart attack ? "
Anyone up for the All A Muchy redux redux ?
gotta go it's nap time...
Oh yeah riding back to my car though Deer Park was stupid , assinine, and down right goofy.
