2022 31/31 Ride daily for bragging rights and a reward. TM / Jorba / MtbNJ /

Dat 10/31: original plan was to ride Stephen's, but I crushed my big toe yesterday and thought more gravel time made sense. Ran into a big group of MTBers on the Sussex Branch Trail, led by the most photographed guns on the NJ MTB scene, @VelocityBoy.

Crossed 206 and hopped on a gravel trail that ends at an old railroad bridge, which supposedly connects to the Hudson Rail Trail out towards Tranquilty. Started bushwhacking but everything was too overgrown. Will try approaching it from the other direction. Next time.

I dont want to say almost 1/3 of the way there today. I'll say over 1/3 of the way done tomorrow. Keep rolling!

Today was a nice chill ride with @mike_243 until a tree reached out and grabbed him. He seems to have hurt his hip, nothing serious I hope….all he said is “I’m fine dude.” and then lumps away. I swear these stoic people sometimes. I feel bad because I’m doing the bare minimum it seems, but my body is not cooperating with my mind and is fighting back. Another thing that doesn’t realize what it’s up against.

9/20 - Trexlertown with Tom and the girls.

We decided to ride at Trexlertown today... My effing god my legs do not want to pedal a bike right now. While I mostly enjoyed being out, I was pretty much in pain for the entire ride. The climb up the road to the preserve/zoo to see the buffalos was worth it, but damn it hurt. I wish I could find a Dr near me to get checked out.

Parking was at a premium. By the time we started, guys started parking in the middle of the lot...

Half on ebikes. Wish I was one of them today...

Buffalo!! After we started riding along the fence line, there is even a calf among them, which was cool.

Jen after she fell into the flowers. Not sure how she managed to do that on flat pedals...

Nothing but flowers.

We'll see how I feel tomorrow. Honestly, I'm not sure I'm up for completing 20 rides. Not quite halfway done and already feeling burnt out. 🙁

10/31: Race recap. Headed down south for the Summer Sizzler today. This is the only race I’ve ever done and the first time was 4 years ago. Last time I was able to get on the podium but no such luck this year. A 5th place was all I could muster.
I love this course. It’s relatively flat; on the gas the whole time. I could tell from the start I was with a strong group. After watching some nasty wipeouts in the first few turns I was on edge. Parts of the course had just enough moisture on it from yesterdays rain to keep a greasy top layer and I just couldn’t get in the groove. Overall I had a great ride and can’t wait for next year.
