1/13/11 - I skied at Harriman from Sebego boat lot. Tip top conditions. Plenty of cover over old quad tracks. Did the ski loop plus some hiking trails. It never got above low 20's so snow should stay good. However this place could get quadded and foot printed out on weekend.

Stopped by Allaire after work, like every where else the conditions are great.
Some hiker & snowshoe tracks but a lot of the single track was untouched.
The tender Mt. Laurels are bent over the trails with the weight of snow on them. If your on the single track you just have to be careful not to damage the vegetation.
I am probably going to get to Ringwood on Saturday morning (7:30) if anyone wants to join me. wax it up

hit ringwood via snowshoe this am. already a set of ski and snowshoe tracks behind lot c. made first tracks on red, green, pierson ridge and yellow. lots of soft, deep powder and 3 foot drifts on pierson ridge. lower carriage trails nearly ridable thanks to snowmobiles. missed a turn and my hike turned into an epic.
speaking of yahoos and quads. some yahoo on a quad tore up the area behind the school doing the straight up and down the steep hills, not even trying to stay on the trail. thought about following the tracks to his house but by this time was dead tired.

I hit up Ringwood today on my rest day. Conditions were awesome. Some existing snowmobile and various tracks out there, but plenty of freshies, and something for everyone. Here is some video from the last few days:

Yeah that is good stuff for VT, I think that line up is a little overkill for NJ.
Starting the quiver with a 70 mm ski is fine for VT but a bit much for these parts. For NJ I'd start that line up with a 55-60 mm ski and go up to about an 80mm ski max. Also I'd opt for a comfortable boot over downhill performance...but thats just me.😉

Thanks. I was hoping to inspire a few people to get out and ski this weekend.
Looks like the snow may be with us for awhile. I've actually been thinking about upgrading my skis as well, as mine are about 15 years old and I get very little kick out of them. I feel like it holds me back from really pushing hard. I am thinking about waxable, 65 and full length. Now if I buy skis,that could be the end of our snow this year. 🙄 So it may be a win/win situation. 😉
Is anyone going out XC skiing up north on Monday? I think it is a holiday.
I am going to meet Jdog at 6 mile Monday if you & Art want to head south. Conditions are still good, we're going out of the 27 lot at 9am.

Thanks. I saw Jdogs pictures from 6 mile, and they looked awesome. I have some friends that wants to go out at A Wayne, so I may do that tomorrow. Looking forward to hooking with some of you before I buy skis and make the snow go away.😎
The XC skis have made this spell of snowy weather a real treat.
I have been out basically every other day since x-mas and I really enjoy it.
It was really rough staying away from VT this weekend after the bug dump they had, but MLK weekend is a shit show so I stayed home and skied at 6mr.
Btw.. after Tuesday's warm rain the mtbing should be a go at 6mr.

I am thinking about heading up to ringwood with some new rossi bc70's, how is the snowpack up there?
There was plenty of snow as of Saturday with some rock scraping on rugged single track. All the roads are packed down by snowmobiles and quads, if that matters to you.
