    Noob Central

There is no Central Jersey. Jersey is too small to have a Central area, it is either North or South Jersey. Anything below Bergen county is South Jersey. Anything west of Bergen county might as well be Pennsyltucky. Hope that helps:p

    Pedals

:hmmm:Clipless...funny I never had a problem keeping my feet on the pedals, guess must be a common thing when you start getting older sort of like needing Viagara:popcorn:

    Running Man

Yup - His name is Bill. Admit he was a bit ornery at first but after passing him dozens of times got to know him. He never seemed to care about bikes on trails - quads yes - maybe he didnt like your bike:) I've seen him as far as Bear swamp doing a 14+ mile trail run...hard enough on a...

    Running Man

If he's same guy I know he's been running those trails longer than I've been riding them which would be 15+ yrs...

    Tire Selection

Ignitors are sweet although find they wear quickly...then again maybe I'm just fat. Other options are tried and true velociraptors.

    Quick, easy tire question

I've used patch and even duct tape - it will fix anything!

    Advice on new deraileurs/shifters/brake levers/brakes.

Beleive it or not I still have that same bike! Black w/crazy neon green swirls. Mine was relegated to child carrier duties but decent aluminum frame with 1-1/8" steerer tube so you can put fork on it. Troll ebay for cheap parts - XT, Deore, Alivio - and you can have decent bike for less...

    Thermal tight recommendations?

Don't get me wrong I ride all year in shorts and doesn't bother me as long as I keep moving. Flanel boxers help. What I found is frozen toes to be limiting factor. Anything less than 28F and can't keep the feet warm. Tried heated socks, baggies, plastic bags even hand warmers (which...

    Thermal tight recommendations?

Found my cut-off to be 28F. Anything under that I can't keep my toes warm. Shorts all year long as well, keeps you moving - would wear tights but can't find them in mens sizes...har har har

    The Garbage Heap

Sound advice from Wobbegong. Careful you don't over analyze or you'll end up like Monkey Soup saying things like 5" inches in the rear are just not enough to get me going anymore!:popcorn::popcorn:

    What fork

Monkey Poop - disturbing to say the least ... I don't even want to ask what sort of kicks you get if you if see a guy in a race poop in front of you.:drooling: Please, that is a rhetorical question not meant for you to answer and neither I nor MTBNJ (taking liberty to speak for forum) care...

    What fork

Hey Monkey Poop - If you want to be faster you should dump in the woods during your ride therefore reducing your weight...although you may then get weaker as you/your bike are lighter. This is like one of those time-travel paradoxes:hmmm: To be serious though coil spring is the way...

    Clipped In vs. Flat Pedals

After that post I can't see how anyone would be clipped in!

Proper Way to size a new chain

Simple enought - Run chain from largest sizes front to back taut(no derailler) and add two links.

    Best tires for grip?

Velociraptors 2.1 - great tire for grip and price - I recently picked up a set for $14.99 (wire bead) at Wheelworld. If you're a gram weenie then you'ld have to spring more for kevlar bead.
