State Park Closures AND Reopenings!

What about Water Company? Or the Greenway Trust private lands? Meanwhile I'll stay in my backyard bike park.

I drove past the lot on my way home from work, they had barricaded it. A little further up the road I saw 4 cars parked and were about to feel the wrath of the state park police officer who had just pulled up to them. I guess they are serious today.

Sorry did I imply they were legal !! I come from a time when 99% of what we rode on MTB's was illegal so this is nothing new for me.

No biggie, I'm going to ride non sanction trails by the house I'll start with a hike this weekend to trim back and mark it out

I actually want to make sure no one owns the land before I do that, I'll review the town maps

Cuz they literally have nothing else to do than stop MTB from riding trails. Un F’in believable. Just remember, I was on here and not riding trails. Time check.

hopewell twp announced its trails would remain open to residents.
so i don't know if they are enforcing residents, but the D&R greenway off Mountain/Mountain Church road
is included.

So take a look at this page, read the headline, look at the picture.
interesting choice.

I think you have explored these, what are your thoughts on rideability? Meaning I heard many of the trails are wet enough it is hard to even hike them.

they are very wet - places where there are stepping stones to get through.
I don't think they want bikes in there, but can't exclude them, to they are just made less attractive to ride.

i liked the page which has mercer county across the top
somerset county trail markers from SMP,
and a picture of devils half acre, rather than their actual trails.

I was wondering about that, I think there are some rock formations in there, at least based on some of the stuff you see from the road along mountain and mountain church.

I always wanted to explore the ridge over between Crusher Road and Broad Street. If you look on google, you can see a sliver of a green parcel that has a small trail off Broad Street and the more obvious one on Crusher. I never did because it would be a mtb affair and far enough from my old house that I didnt want to ride there.

looks like that goes all the way down to the watershed institute - i ran those trails a couple years back. might have to explore!

other side of crusher

yes, it links to the watershed, who BTW did a shit ton on improvement near the nature center. However, they hate bikes and the stuff was never really good enough to care.

somofabitch. trails across from my house are on DEP property!

The Battle to reopen parks begins

"This calls for a much more nuanced position where parks that are not being overused at certain times of the day should be available to people. Maybe certain parts of parks should be shut down but parts of parks shouldn't. There needs to be a well thought out policy before you restrict the liberties of 9 million New Jersaynans to not visit the hundreds of thousands of acres of state parks and our state forests," Weber said.
