Short stories:
I Start this ride at around 3:18am with temperatures 14f from Clifton to Suffern I rode mostly on sidewalks (for my safety) from Suffern to Monroe the shoulder on highway NY17 was partially unplow,so I basically rode on soft bank of snow sometimes on someone is front yards or veered into empty parking lots anything to avoid my tires skidding out onto the highway it was quite slippery, anyway I made it to Monroe where I eat another breakfast were previously I have in Suffern texted maciej to say Hi,..
Continue briefly on orange heritage rail trail then pick up route 208 towards Stewart SP I choose to ride back roads instead of highway for safety normally without snow I would ride on that highway
The back roads are empty and roads surface is in good shape with some black ice
Finally made it to Stewart SP
Then work my way to cross onto Walden
Made it to Walden
Then eat my lunch there before continuing the next rail trail
Now, on back roads again heading towards The WVRT (Wallkill Valley Rail Trail)
Follow that rail trail until I hit New palzt
From New palzt I stopped by at local famous Bakery shop where known very well by cyclist either from NJ or NY
Ate a big piece of carrot cakes and coffee
Then move on onto my next destination
While I was riding on route 32 towards Esopus I got caught up in snow storm wch I have notice it it when I was on WVRT I saw the storm forming above the Gunk's and I knew that was storm I was looking at and it is fonnaly down on me
So,i was snowed for over 45minutes before I reached the Perrine's bridge and after that the storm dies out,.. it was scary and also nice
Scary because I was on that highway meanwhile all the ignorant driver passed me by without slowing down also visibility was bad at the time, lucky to be alive..
The Perrine's covered bridge has been on my radar for quite long time
Yesterday I finally made the visit and it is why I make this trip
It was quite a remarkable work of art or Engineering marvel
This is one of many historical and protected covered bridge in the New York sate has
Finishing looking around admiring the site
Time to go home now, it was around 235pm
Gotta go to Poughkeepsie to catch the train go back to the City
Another back roads adventure this time climbing over the mountain for about 15 miles before dropping down to Hudson river
FYI,
The Walk way Hudson always close at 4 pm
I got there a little over 500pm
So I crossed by Hudson bridge instead and that would be my third unable to cross using walkway after the closing time
And
What a bless I get to the station 1minutes to spares before the train pull away
The engineer saw me walking down the stair carrying my bicycle and opened the door for me,i didn't even have a chance to buy ticket from the machine, there inside a conductor awaited me
And inform me the train is about to leave, then pay him the Fare
I also forgot to turn off my strata (about less than 15min actually) before I realized it
Arriving in spuyten Duvil then make my way crossing into Manhattan by taking Bronx Bridge
Then another bridge to cross before arrive in Fort lee, there I ate my very late dinner at 9 pm
Finally made it home by 10:45pm
What a day it was!!
