We had our team meeting this past weekend and this is how 2015 shakes out right now, for Team MTBNJ & the Race Promotion Machine:

Short Track Series

Currently we are set on having a 4 race "series" at the Allamuchy BSA on the following dates. Note that these are all Sundays this year:

March 1
March 8
March 15
--empty weekend--
March 29

The 4th weekend in March is not available to us. So we'll be doing weekends 1/2/3 and 5. We have also discussed the possibility of extending the ST races into April as an alternate for those people who want to keep doing short, local races. The April weekends could possibly be Saturday or Sunday. Additional details TBD.

The Stewart 45

Sunday, July 19th.

Yes, you read that right. We're changing the format of the Six Pack to a 45 mile race. The team thinks that change is good in this regard, and it's high time to shake things up a bit. Notes on that:

1. We will have 3 laps of 15 miles each
2. Teams: hey, you'll have to figure it out
3. This allows those people doing W101 a tune-up
4. This race length allows more intermediate/beginner types to try a longer race.
5. This also allows some truly mixed teams a better format, where a fast partner can do 2 laps and a slower friend can just bite off 1.

We're working on the logistics of everything right now. More details to come.

Cross Race

It's on the RADAR, too soon to say anything of note. Plus, technically, cross from last year is still going today so really, don't ask about cross just yet.

First 3 races - BIYF Bonus points!!!!!

what other motivation does one need to try this out?

Will usa cycling license be required?

Short track is gonna explode this year! There will be no cancellation because of snow, well unless it's a blizzard day of. If there is snow, courses will be groomed and look for some changes from the old courses...
Who loves the short track racing!

Will usa cycling license be required?

The only license required is a LICENSE TO ILL.

Yes, more points:

1. What Iggy said, no USAC license required*
2. Snow will not cancel this event. The BSA has snowmobiles, which we have been told will be used in a worst case scenario to pack down any inordinate amounts of snow

* note: you will however need written permission from the Austin PD to participate in this event

I'm going to ride the canal today (from BB), then RV tomorrow. Yesterday was my 6th straight MTB ride in a row. I need something low-key. If you want to join, shoot me a FB message? But I'm going really soon. In fact, I'm sitting here fully dressed.

So not even making a cx reference 🙂getsome🙂, but I assume rain/soft ground *does* cancel?

Almost zero chance. This is all private BSA land and they want the races to happen. We'll be building trails for the series. And the series will help support their youth biking program. They are all about promoting stuff for kids. They want kids to use the camp, and we help support the youth biking program which brings kids to the camp. So they're not going to go apeshit if we mess up some trails that we build.

--empty weekend--

Should this make me sad?

Should be bring stuff for the kids? Not like a bouncy castle, but mebbe parts or clothings?

Not sad, maybe empty. You can always participate in the BSA event that weekend. The one where they dress up and play magic in the woods.

Probably yes on the parts and/or clothing. Will keep everyone posted.
