Group Ride

I was hoping to find route maps so that I can split off from the lower mileage groups when neccessary to go the 63mile route but the time between the starts are too long 🙁

Are there any females out there looking to do the 30 and befriend a new gal pal?

It is blocked for me at work, but I saw maps on there last night.
I looked but no luck. Let me know from home.

They most probably give out turn by turn cue sheets at registration.

Covered Bridge Ride: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I register on the day of the event?
A: Yes, but you will not get a shirt.

Q: What time do the rides begin?
A: Ride Start Times:
8:00 a.m. 63-mile ride
8:30 a.m. 50-mile ride
9:00 a.m. 33-mile ride
9:30 a.m. 30-mile ride
9:30 a.m. 20-mile ride

Q: How much before the ride should I get there?
A: Give yourself at least a half hour before your ride start time. There may be long lines to park your car, and then to sign-in or register for the ride.

Q: Where are the cue sheets for the rides?
A: Cue sheets are not given out until the day of the ride.

Q: Why can't I get a copy of the cue sheets before the ride?
A: We may have to make adjustments to the ride due to weather and road conditions, so the final version isn't available until the day of the ride.

Q: Where does the ride start and end?
A: The ride starts and ends (as well as the picnic lunch after the ride) at Tinicum Park in Erwinna Pennslyvania.

Well it looks like my girlfriend and I are doing the 30 or 33. She has ridden 20's with me but on the flat parts of these lands. So 30's with hills should be a good clip for her. I don't get why they have two 30's. I wish I knew which one is the better of the two. :hmmm: damn choices

I would love to do 63. It's been 8 months ago since my last 60 🙁 but I can't abandon her? Can I?

See you guys around at the stations and picnic!

I'm gonna try to do the 63miles...I can do it son. Get there early pppsssshhhhhh. I was at the leaf blower today helping with boxes and shit before the sun came up...ask norm. I LOVE Free stuffs

You can do the 63 no question.

Just don't go too hard early and burn yourself out on the climbing. Just keep in the back of your mind that you have 63 miles of rolling hills to climb.
If your not used to long rides with hills, this is the biggest factor in my opinion. Dont blow yourself up in the first 2 hours when your feeling fresh, only to suffer later.

I wish I wasnt traveling this day, I'm bummed I'm going to miss this ride this year. 😡

Thanks for the encouragement jay...I figure I'll be fine. Its not a race but I do want to keep a good pace.
I wish tomorrow was the 18th this is gonna be fun. I also have to remind myself to get a new battery for my camera too.

Central Bucks County Bike Club has there annual Covered Bridges ride on 10/18. I have done this several years ago and remember it being a well run event through some scenic areas, course has some climbing but not ridiculous. I'm planning to do the 63 mile ride, looking for intermidiate pace, about a 17+mph. This is a good ride to keep an aerobic base going as we go into the fall months.
If anyone is intersted in going let me know it would be nice to ride with some MTBNJ's. Carpool or meet there, the event starts at 8am. Here are the details. http://www.cbbikeclub.org/?body=covered_bridge_ride

are you familiar with the area (frenchtown) is there any motel in that town?

thanks

I'm in.

I'll be driving from the Wayne/Oakland/Pompton border and we have room in the van for 2 more bikes and riders.

PM me if you want to carpool.
