Fat Bike helps a lot.
this is true...

i ride those tracks a lot, on my fat bike but also often on my 29er ...

the key is, from bound brook, i ride the NJ Transit track "shoulder", until you get into dunellen at the bound brook (not the town, the actual brook)...then you cross over south ave and continue back on the Conrail tracks...pretty sure it was @jimvreeland who gave me this pointer several years back

this is one of my more recent rides on those tracks...with map detail for reference...

@ekuhn feel free to hit me up anytime you want to ride the tracks from Bound Brook all the way into the local Edison woods!

#3 had a family picnic at one of our good friend's lakehouse. Decided I'd leave from the in-laws and head up to it. Some beautiful yet still brutal gravel. Hit 23% grade a few times again on the Garmin. Prospect mountain climb was a really cool gravel road up and over. Ended up getting there a bit early for the party, so I rolled into Torrington for a beer. The place was the old firehouse. The beer was okay, but I am kind of a beer snob. Still hit the spot.

#4 was a bit tamer. Hit up the bridle path which was pretty busy on this beautiful 4th of July. Then rolled into Hop Brook and did some single/doubletrack on the Allied gravel rig.

#5 recovery roll to Hop Brook. Garmin hit 1hr and a minute and I thought I was safe, but I needed part 2 to get me over the hour.
