Day 4: Tunnel Ridge with a Skills with Phil Sighting

I suppose the title of this ride kinda gives away who we saw on the ride today. But for those who are here for things other than the suspense, I will talk a bit more about it. As the days add up and we get closer to the KT house, our number grows. Day 1 was 5, yesterday 6, and today 9. A few years ago one of the guys at a Killington bike shop told me I should check out Rochester. I filed it away as something to keep in mind, but left it there for a while. 2 years later, I saw an Instagram post from LD Trailworks about a 5 mile trail that they just finished. Then @chemgirl said she rode there and I set this as our agenda for the day.

The trail is basically 5 miles out, then 5 miles back. And you ride about 2.5 miles to get to it. So in all it is a 15 mile round trip. You go up 1700 feet, down 1000, turn around and go up 1000 feet, then down 1700. The last downhill has like 101 berms and is nothing short of an amazing build.

At the top of the first climb we met up with Phil from Skills with Phil. We talked to him there, then at the bottom at the furthest point, then back at the top, then back at the car when we were done. Pretty easy going dude, very friendly.

The ride was awesome. Not sure I would do this every day if I lived here (spoiler alert: I would not). But it was a great day for a great ride.

Curious. How do you know the turnaround point? Trailforks is limited on the area.

Day 4
07/04/2022
1:18:32 Moving time

Family hike this morning with the dogs at Dismal Harmony pushed back my ride time, so I missed the Fun Monday ride, but I did drag Neighbor Frank around Chimney Rock for about 8-9 miles. His first time there, he may go back. Eventually.

Might have been Chris. The other bearded guy on the ride. 🤣
