Why do you ride ?

I basically ride to de-stress myself. I do not go out and I believe that being 28yrs old, I am just basically done. It is always just work, work, and more work and the only time I have to myself is when I get my bike, put on the headphones, and head into the woods. I feel free, careless, and one when I ride.

Dang, that's depressing.
I'm so old I lost count and if anyone asked, I have to do the math but I still feel like I've only just begun.

I ride because it keeps me young, happy, healthy and thin🙄. I love seeing significantly older riders ripping up the roads and the trails because it gives me hope that I might be as fast as strong and as healthy when I get old.

I ride because I'm addicted to it- like a drug. It's the only way to explain all the withdrawal symptoms I experience when I go too long without riding...

•Panic attacks
•Fever
•Headaches
•Anxiety
•Tension
•Depression
•Insomnia
•Restlessness or irritability
•Confusion

I would go to counseling but then that would take away from what little precious ride time I have. 😛

amen. a few weeks ago I saw a group of older guys (mid 60s?) riding through Allaire and thought "that's gonna be me in 25 years!!!!"

It can be done. The worse ass kicking I ever got on the road was by a 59 year old man. And this was when I was 28 and in the shape of my life (could push 42 mph in a sprint and bang out a 5 hr solo century back then). When he laid waste to me, I didn't know how old he was...just that he looked really old. About a month after I was racing a triathlon (well, I was on a team...I don't run or swim) and passed him on the bike leg. I saw his age grease penciled on his calf. I later learned that he was the #1 triathlete in the country for his age group. I felt a little better about the ass kicking he gave me that one day on the road (it also helped that I pounded him on the bike leg, though only a little 'cause he had swam and had a half marathon to run).

I wish I could remember his name...he would be 77 years old now. My money is on he is still laying waste to guys half his age on that purty Colnago of his out on the road...
