What have you done to your car today?

Do they oversize brakes now or something?

I'd go through a set of rotors/pads on previous cars 40-60k, I'm at 95k on my car and purchased a whole new set of brakes many miles ago but every time I take the wheels off I laugh at how much is left and how good everything looks.

they are certainly bigger than they used to be, if that is scaled relative to the increase in vehicle weight, or has gone up more (proportionally) im not sure. My personal experience is mostly cause by the fact that 90% of my driving was highway for the first 100k that i had the truck. (my car was eating a set of brakes every 30-35k, but thats a much more varied/aggressive use case)

Just changed my pads last night. Learned on a 65 Mercedes back in the day. My wife and kids think that its pure folly, but I hope I never reach that point in life when I pay to have someone do a brake job for me.

I'm trying to hit the lottery, so i never have a car long enough to need brakes! 😉

Otherwise, the hour spent isn't a big deal - the hardest thing i had to do was to free a lug nut with a breaker bar.....my air gun is getting old.
I may buy the ryobi, since i have the batteries.

last year hd christmas sale had the ryobi on sale bare tool for $89 iirc seems like a good deal.

As someone who spent $$ on an Ingersoll-Rand air gun years ago, I'm happy I bought the Ryobi. I'm sure this year there will be more great deals w/ black friday.

I'd love to have other people do certain jobs for me, but nobody at a shop is going to do brakes as well as I will. IE, making sure to clean/grease the pins, etc. Well, maybe at a performance shop and at the right price.

I replaced my worn out 1/2” pneumatic IR gun with a Dewault. Already had their drills, batteries etc. Works great! Been holding up just fine. Picked up the 3/8“ one this past week too, just in time to help out with the shocks on my son’s Jeep. Not in a rush to rebuild the pneumatic ones.

New shocks on the Jeep was a huge improvement! Drives so much better especially since it previously had mix matched shocks for some stupid reason, three original and one newer one on the left front. WhoTF does that?

A Jeep owner with 84 month financing who just spent all their money on brakes and expensive replacement tires and has one broken shock?

That would probably be me shortly (minus the financing)...a few years back I purchased an IR cordless impact, seems to have more torque than I'll ever need. Been sitting in the garage for a while, was lonely so I also bought the matching ratchet...

which models do you have?
I'm looking at the P262

Which is cheaper on amazon than HD site.
That's the one I bought.

Is it sold by Amazon? I'm not sure Amazon is actually an authorized seller. Can cause issues with warrant

Black Friday is coming! I got mine with the deal where I bought the $200 battery set and the tool was free. And then maybe returned the batteries so it was only $80 or so.

Their deals pre-black Friday don't seem to include that impact but they may change that as we get closer.

im all in on dewalt for my impacts (dcf 921, 923 and 889 which is overdue for an upgrade and is currently living in the truck with the jack kit)

if you need other tools as well this kit from ryobi @hd seems like a pretty good deal https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-O...-Ah-Batteries-and-Charger-PBLIW01K2/325012085

im toying with the idea of the powerstack kit myself, and another 921 for the other car, dont need any of the other tools listed tho and 2 impacts seems kinda silly IMO.

that's their big-boy impact - weighs 8lbs with a 4ah battery!
my skinny cyclist arms can't handle that 😉
