Added photo of the tire. It's a DoubleDown casing so it's probably fine, but didnt want to risk it. Also to be fair, this tire is probably of a 2020ish vintage because i dont ride enough to replace it often. Maybe newer Maxxis are better??You may have tossed the tire, but I'm not sure what a frayed sidewall looks like, only seen them on old tires.
This year, two almost new DHR2s on different bikes (29 and 27.5+) have torn right above the bead for me. Currently using tubes on both till I decided whether to give up on Maxxis tires. Maxxis was everyone's go to tire but seems the competition has caught up.
I've been testing out Bonty SE5s up front on a few bikes and like the grip but there's a good weight penalty. Thinking XR5 up front and either SE4 or 3s in the back. SE2s are similar to the Pan FatBnimbles I've been running on a hardtail. Fast, but zero grip especially this time of year with wet leaves. Though interested what you think with a burlier front tire.
Just had my first ride on the T2's this morning. Holy crap that's what brakes should feel like. Migrating to entirely Hayes over time... Mostly A4's.
What clamp are you running on the shifter? I could only find the right side peacemaker online.
Hayes does make a pretty sweet brake. They work so effortlessly, especially when compared to the Sram ones I just took off. I still prefer the TRP DH-R EVO for DH park stuff but I've been switching to everything else to Hayes.
I'm using their peacemaker for the shifter and a generic dropper clamp on the left.

Looks like replacement levers are available via Google-fu. Looking at the Code brakes on my Heckler, replacement looks straightforward. Just a T10 wrench on the pivot bolts. I just removed and reinstalled the lever in about a minute.seeing the brake post reminded me to ask...
has anyone replaced just a lever? I bent one of my levers on my Code brakes...is it "easy"? I see you can buy just a lever rather than replacing the whole unit.
About 26# with the stock fork. 24.25# with the Whisky. How much did that bike weigh before and after the new fork?
Was there just a rubber cap where the knob could have been?Added a compression knob to my float x turning it from a performance to a performance elite.View attachment 248734View attachment 248735View attachment 248736View attachment 248737View attachment 248738
Yes, I bought this from someone that had an YT Jeffery. It’s a Fox Float X performance, they come with a plastic cap locked in place at 3 clicks from full compression damping. By adding the $25 compression knob kit the shock is converted to a Fox Float X performance elite. A lot of mid range bikes out there come with the float x performance installed with the compression adjustment blocked off, Fox does this with the DHX as well in OEM. I now am running almost no compression and the shock is very active, better than my DHX coil shock IMO. With the float x, the climb lever is like 4-5 clicks on the compression now,Was there just a rubber cap where the knob could have been?
I get it. I makes sense that it was for a specific tune and they wanted to limit the adjustability. Glad you like the shock even more now!Yes, I bought this from someone that had an YT Jeffery. so if you want to do some drops or jumps, just hit the lever. I love the float x shock now, I think it’s the best trail shock out there right now.
I think it’s more of a polished turd kind of thing. Kinda like putting a XT derailleur with a deore shifter. People think they are getting XT but find out it has a cheap shifter. People think they are getting adjustable Fox suspension but find out not so much.I get it. I makes sense that it was for a specific tune and they wanted to limit the adjustability. Glad you like the shock even more now!
