What have you done to your bike today?

I’m not sure I want a Rudy on my gravel bike enough to buy one and I’m not sure I like the suspension stem idea so…

I decided to prototype a 30mm travel air shaft assembly to convert my old Reba to Rudy Specs. Or pretty close. Axle to Crown on the Warakin is 420mm and this thing I made is 425mm so it’s close enough.

I’ll need to do a host of other mods like swapping a post mount caliper to Rival and possibly lacing up a Boost Gravel wheel, but for now I’m just gonna run my 29er wheel with Gravel tires and see what happens. Or if it even actually works.

I would be curious how the damper side works with it so shortened. Cane Creek doesn't even have a damper on their new gravel fork as *supposedly* it just added weight. Lockout is probably a necessity though.

This would be a less than ideal example as the cartridge side is pretty shot anyway. I threw a thicker oil in it to slow the options down and need to run the Rebound almost all the way slow with the knob as well. I made some modifications this morning to fix a bump stop top out clunk that was happening yesterday. And I upped the travel to 50mm once I swapped the 50c Gravel tire on because there's more clearance. My bar drop stayed exactly the same. I'm sure a Rudy which has been designed from the ground up for this purpose would be better but so far I'm in $0 and 0 cents so...

How she ended up…
-New rear triangle
-Pike internals upgraded to ultimate and increased airspring to 160
-Super Deluxe Ult shock install
-New bontRAGEr line 30 rims installed
and hub bearings replaced.
-replaced KS dropper internal
-installed additional freehub pawls for added 108 point engagement
-a few other minor things like points of contact and such

Does it count if this wasn’t exactly done today? Took a while to get to her final form. Just never posted it. 😝

Nice fade job, rattle can?

Decided to change out the Grip2 damper in my F36 for the new MRP Lift Damper… so far it’s been a great experience! Finally getting full 160 travel and superior damping! I dropped 3psi on the air side and small bump and large hits, drops are super plush!View attachment 245844View attachment 245845
Interested to hear more feedback on how this damper performs on our local trails. I'm currently running a Runt in my 36, but still think there's room for improvement.

There's always room for improvement with Fox. That's how I ended up on a Manitou.

They said they fixed everything with their new Fox damper!

In all seriousness if I was buying a Fox I would try to buy used and drop in the MRP cartridge. I really like that they tune for weight ranges.

Now that I have my Manitou setup it feels great yet I only use 2/3 of the travel. Crazy the smoothness yet support.
