What have you done to your bike today?

Seatpost issues seem to be contagious. Rode with @mtbiker87 a few weeks ago and his post crapped out. A week later mine was acting more like a shock absorber than a post.

PNW has been good to deal with. They ended up swapping out my seatpost for a rebuilt replacement. Rock solid operation this weekend.

Funny you mention this, as I was going to post up that today I was testing mine after doing a service. It stopped doing the shock absorber thing the next day after that ride, but would intermittently act weird, like not go down all the way, come up slow, that sort of stuff. In the process of checking the cable operation, ect, I pulled the cover off the actuator, (externally routed ) and noticed that the nylon cable thingy was super frayed. While playing with the cable tension a time or two , it broke. I contacted PNW, who were super helpful, and offered to replace the post, send me a shipping label to send mine in for repair, or send me a new nylon cable if I wanted to try and fix it myself. They also suggested pulling more if the nylon cable through, as there is plenty of extra length , which is the route I went. Watched thier service video, did the deed, pulled some extra cable through, ran a drill bit through the barrel that held the nylon cable to clean up a burr, and we're good to go. Tried it today and so far so good. Yay PNW !!

Thanks. Yeah, they changed the tool but it's included in the upgrade kit. Either I did something wrong or it just doesn't adjust far enough for a good fit with a 50T NX cassette but I have a 10-52T on order and I'm hoping that's the ti$ket. Or it's just me. Guess I'll find out.

Something doesn't sound right. You might want to check if the derailleur is mounted correctly on the hanger. I'm finding it hard to believe that the top pulley sits that far away from a 50T. Sram's mount is slightly different and needs to be mounted in the right position. Your going from an X01 to ASX, changing out to a 52 cassette to fix shifting on essentially a new bike. That's a lot of cash to drop on something that already has good equipment. Putting on a 52 doesn't sound like the right fix.

I've been sitting on a Shimano DX rear brake I bought on eBay a year or three ago to put on my BMX bike (1998 Gary Fisher Lush Rush). I replaced the wheels with a DX/Mavic wheelset shortly after buying it and have always wanted a matching rear brake. After some shuffling, the work stand was open so I decided to try installing it over the weekend. Only to realize I bought a POS, incomplete set of vague parts that sort of resembles a brake. Oh well... reinstalled the OE canti brake. Braking on a BMX bike is overrated anyway...

Put 38 psi in my rear tire this morning, now it's down to 18 psi at noon. No Stans leaking out.
I think I just need new tires. These have almost 3500 miles on them since last October. Same Stans in there.
I also need two spokes that went missing. The trouble is to get anything done now a days. I can envision my
LBS trying to order parts and scheduling an appointment, taking weeks or a month. Damn. I also need brakes,
and a shifter cable, and suspension rebuild. It's not the money I mind, it's just trying to get things done.
Here's the old tires. (old 1 year)

@Kaleidopete if you know what size spokes you need, and are comfortable replacing them, I can cut them for you. You could also get a couple of fiberfix spokes, which don't require removing anything to install them. They are kevlar spokes with an eye spliced in one end.

Same Stan's sealant in there? As in, no Stan's sealant has been added since October. Stan's recommends refreshing every 3-6mos.

That's just some user installed tire siping. There's plenty of tread on that tire and the side lugs don't appear to be undercut or too badly rounded. Throw in some fresh Stans. Super glue or Shoe Goo can also be your friend.

Thanks anyway, but since I need tires and Stans, might as well do real spokes at that time. Thanks again!

Do ppl really follow this? I am more on the side of.... I get a puncture and it doesn't seal.... FUCK! I need sealant! 😀
Yes. Sealant and if necessary, a plug are my first step when getting a puncture. The tube is last resort to get me back to the car rather than walking.
