What have you done to your bike today?

Did the debut ride of this tonight. 2021 Giant Trance X 3.
Sweet bike..handles well, and climbs well too, I was able to make the common climbs at Allaire with much more ease.
Full suspension is awesome. Tires are meaty, grippy, and kick up a lot of dirt lol...will probably get a front fender.
Love the slack head tube angle, much more upright seating position. Very comfortable.
Will probably go with a little less pressure in the fork.

Looks good 😎

Well today I decided to try an experiment. I took my chain off my bike.
I then took an old chain and cut it to a shorter length hoping to make it a single speed but still leaving the eleven speed cassette.
I chose fourth gear for this test. This test was an attempt to create a way to pedal out of the woods after breaking off a derailleur.
I thought I could simply install my shorter chain and have a way out. It didn’t work, for some reason this shorter chain kept wanting
to jump to a larger gear, which jammed it up. It looked fine, looked lined up perfectly, but it just wouldn’t hold the line. Oh well, so much for that idea.

Question
Decided to replace my headset but the crown race is different isn’t split will this just push on or do I need a tool? I just don’t want to get it stuck.

While riding with @Mare45 at RV on Wednesday - the rear tire on the fatbike started to lose air.
I didn't think much of it, figured i'd picked up a thorn, and it would seal.
Fast forward to yesterday's ride with @mattybfat and @soundz.
The tire is soft coming off the rack, so i pump it up - we are chatting while getting ready
and by the time we are ready to roll, the tire is soft again, not flat, just soft.
So pump it up again, and listen closely. There is a small leak in the sidewall (actually two)
so I shake the rim to get the sealant over there, and none is coming out.
Give the rim a shake, and i can hear it sloshing. Matt mentions that it sounds kinda thin.
We dart the hole, it doesn't seal by itself (darts react with the sealant)
Fart around some more - head out and repump tire every 25 minutes.

So i pull the tire off today, and the stans is mostly dry - still glistening, but not running.
Shake the rim - and there is water trapped in the rim cavity. Probably the result of
crossing the concrete bridge at 6MR after one of those rain storms (during a tm session w the Jasons)

Anyway, pull the valve stem, and shake the water out. Just like sunburn, start peeling the sealant
and i can't stop - interesting to see all the things that are stuck in your tire - which is why the emergency tube
goes flat.

The sealant monster.

Proper inside of dart. Had to make the hole large enough to dart it too.

All set.

Re-weigh the bike, with a stanimal that big I bet it's at least 2 lbs lighter.

Replaced 2 broken spokes on my 13 year old king/Flow SS rear wheel. Its getting to end of the line for this wheelset. Nips are brittle AF which is why you use brass not aluminum. Now having the time of my life resealing the over used schwable. Could use a new tire for sure.
