Well it wasn't today, but got my new frame a month ago. Kept it on the DL cause n cannot =+1. InvisiFrame, then assembled covertly in bits and pieces over a couple of weeks. Sold the other bike just as I finished up so new bike took old bike's place. Nearly same colors (coincidence? I think not 🙂). Shake down ride, then some adjustments and it's feeling pretty good so far.

Since the FlareMax is all done and pretty much sorted, It was time to show the Gnarzan some love. Replaced the rear hub bearings after detonating the one behind the freehub last time out at Six Mile with the OOS boys. Threw on a new GX cassette and XX1 chain for good measure.

Had to fix a loose rim support on my rear Stan's wheel. Pretty easy fix, just pull the tire a tape off, drip some tubular glue inside the rim at the seam. Retape. Re Stan's wheel. Boom. Quiet.

Pardon my ignorance but what is a rim support?

It's a little bridge inside the rim at the seam. It stops the rim from crushing in when they pin it together.

Always nervous punching these super soft rims.

Trying to find a noise inside a SC Reserve front wheel. It sounds like a little marble rolling around. I pulled the tire and the valve core but I can’t find it. I can make it go all the way around. I was going to pull the rim tape to look for a nipple that came off but all spokes are tight. Crazy stuff. WTF?

These have been sitting around for my son‘s bike (thanks @Strugglebus) but for some reason his tubed 9zero7 wheels are crazy light, so we never swapped them. I figured I'd give them a shot as Summer wheels, and check out the JJ’s. The rear wheel needed 8 beat up drive spokes replaced, and I decided to swap the nipples to brass. Next I dropped on a GX cassette and new chain, then reset and bled the calipers. Maiden voyage tomorrow AM.

I pulled back the rim tape and found fossilized balls of Stans. Problem solved.
