What beer are you drinking RIGHT NOW?

....And we're back

60 degrees out here in NC. It's nice to drink a beer outside and not freeze.

Ah it's all clear now in vacation mode. So why do you wait so long to crack the first one, and I mean yesterday...
Just a long weekend. I cracked a few before the first post yesterday.

Today it just took me this long to recover.

Word is that Lagunitas will be coming out with some limited edition beer from their original formulas... Keep you eyes out gents

Last night, I visited the local watering hole and thought I'd try to get more used to IPAs. So I took the approach of slowing sipping the beer and trying to identify flavors. I think this approach worked better, although I think that you should just be able to gulp and enjoy beer w/o over-analyzing them like wine or ballet.

First I tried Carton 077XX from NJ since I know it's been posted here a bunch. Kind of like with Nugget Nector, it was good but not great.

Then Joe the manager recommended to me Flying Dog's Single Hop Imperial IPA (HBC-431) from MD. He said it uses a newly developed hop. I liked this one better with a sharp/spicy kind of taste.

Capped the night off with a shot of bourbon and called it a night. The next time I'm there, Joe recommend I try the Old Rasputin 17th Anniversary for $30 a bottle. I have a feeling I will like it.

Sounds - you get credit for jumping into the deep end 😉. Both IPA s were double\imperials.

In order to give IPAs more of a chance, I'd recommend you try some that are a little less potent (but still very tasty!!!) like Ithaca flower power, victory hop devil, or ballast point sculpin IPA.

These are outstanding IPAs w/o the kick your ass hoppiness of a double.

Yeah, thats a solid line up. I'm not a fan of IPA's that are too hoppy, like 077XX but that line up is easy to please.

Also, $30 for a bottle of beer is just wrong. Its beer, not wine.

I put on my ballet shoes for this. Waiting for it to warm up. Definitely a sipper. Smells real nice.

Local watering hole has a bunch of these Angry Erik's on tap (from Lafayette, NJ). Anyone try their stuff?

Ok it's definitely not worth $30 but it's damn good especially as it gets warmer. This stuff is aldo impossible to find.

I'll try tonight Weapons grade double IPA by Defiant Brewery. My office is like 3 miles from that brewery and I never visited yet...
