Yeah, my wife didn't like the idea either. She made me put the clothes in a box in the garage during the test.

Thank you! I was jealous of your trip to Arizona too Do the TD next year with me and i'll go to Arizona with you (Good thing my wife doesn't read this board).

Again you hit it on the nail. I'm on the fence about taking a light backpack or just a ruck sack for food. Right now I have a Montain Feeder empty, some room in the Pocket, the Jerry can, the Gas tank and the pockets on my jersey.
Lots of little places. It should be fine. I know if take a backpack I'll end up filling it.

I imagine the gas station bathrooms along the route have unspeakable things done to them. Routinely.

I suppose tubes are heavy, and with enough imagination you could boot a tire somehow.

Now you got me thinking of that little pump. Cool.

Don't forget to have fun!

Considering the adventure you are embarking on... Doesn't seem like that much stuff. Where is the TV and air conditioner going to fit?

dont take a backpack. i fucking hated it, but it was the only place i had for water and food (mostly dinner/breakfast type stuff, ride food lived in feedbags and gastank).

youll find places to fit it all, and your setup is most likely gonna evolve as the days go on. you might dump some stuff entirely that you realize you dont need.

AZ taught me a lot and i realized im a super weight weenie and the riding is more important than camping luxuries. next trip will have a very different loadout

one advisement: TAKE THE SYRINGE FOR THE SAWYER.

the two of us, after the first 3 days fishing silty water out of puddles clogged our filters so bad i almost popped a blood vessel trying to get water thru the line. i got home and one syringe of clean water to backwash it and it was brand new again. i can think of a dozen thigns i took that i couldve kept home if it allowed me to take that goddamn syringe.

Is that something like this?

pretty much

you can use it like the lifestraw, fill up a bottle and run it thru, or run it inline to your bladder which is what we did. its amazing when it works, but once it starts to get gummed up all you want to do is smash the thing into a billion pieces

BRING THE SYRINGE.

Yes, i'm not taking the backpack and I'm taking the syringe .

I'm not sure about the helmet light though (nite rider 750 usb). I packed it but might ship it back home from Banff. Did u use one on top of the k-lite?

@jimvreeland thank you for the ikon too. I tried one on the back ( a 2.35) and I liked the larger volume. I think I could use a few psi less than with the Sparwood and have a bit more cushion but I ended up reversing the Sparwood.

I might still take the ikon with me and try it out there on thu. It has been raining quite a bit...

i only used the lights to actually ride once and it was a petzl tikka 160 lumen job

the klite is more than enough to ride with at reasonable speeds, if youre ripping singletrack youll prob want a headlamp too

i used it every night at camp though, gathering wood, bathroom, cooking etc

Mmm. I thought of bringing it more than anything to look at the sides for animals or other stuff that might creep me out while pedaling 😳 I have the petzl e-lite that's good for the camping stuff but won't help if I want to see what's on the side of the road since it only has 26 lumens.

We'll see. I'm looking at all the rigs this year and they look so lightly packed!

everyones going crazy lightweight these days and it makes sense, a lot of people dont ave 30+ days to lollygag so they want to be fast. and a lot of people arent into camping so they just want to drill the ride to the next motel

youll probably see a couple dudes out there that look like theyre ready for the apocalypse with all the shit they brought, as well as dudes that look like theyre out for a sunday ride with barely nothing

bring the light, if at some point you wanna ditch it or anything else, just mail it home at the next post office. no big deal

Good Luck Segundo!! Be safe!! Have fun!!! Take it all in while out there, and take notes😉 There better be a good writeup on this trip🙂 OK not really, but sorta:thumbsup:
