Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww--------😡

I hate them with a passion. just felt a stabbing pain in my back and found a tick lodged in. It's odd because I've been bitten before but never had this reaction. The area has a deep dark red ring around it w/ a paler ring around that. It is painful. I also (sorry) just had terrible diarrhea and I think it's connected. Went out yesterday and used bug spray--useless !!!

Get to a Dr and get antibiotics. I hate to say it sounds like Lyme with the bull's eye.

EDIT: Sorry for posting in the women's section, but it is serious.

Read on Bicycling.com that on of the advantages of not shaving your legs is that it takes a tick longer to crawl up an unshaven leg. That gives you a better chance of finding them before they dig in to the more concealed regions of the body.

Don't feel bad about posting in the girls section, please. I appreciate all feedback. I work in a hosp. and tomorrow will stop by the ER. So many of my friends have gotten Lymes.

Are these ticks that only girls can get?
Sorry- had to do it.

I'm really nauseous.Don't know if it's from the pain or worry or what. They cancelled my work shift tonight so I can't stop by the ER. Have a Dr. appt tomorrow.BTW--It was probably picked up in Malhon or Deer Park. Deer tick park....

I had one on me last weekend. It's the first one I've seen on me this year. It was just tangled in my arm hair. I somehow NEVER get them. But I also somehow got lymes twice. I have only pulled one off me that bit me once in my entire biking career.

poor Patti ... that looks so painful ... did you see a doc yet? you need doxy and also to watch that it doesn't get infected like pixy said🙁

Just for the future, when you have a tick buried in you, grab a glop of Vaseline and place it over the tick and infected area. This will deprive it of oxygen, and the tick will release it self. I use to do it to my dog all the time. If there was a tick with in a mile of him it would find him. Lol.

Hope you feel better with that and let us know what happens.

Pretty sure when u do this it makes the tick panic and the tick will inject u with its fluids. I would look into this method before trying.

Yesterday I started the antibiotics and I feel really relieved. I read up again on tick info(something we all should do) and the way to remove them is with fine tip tweezer held close to the skin and pull straight out. Vaseline will cause them to inject into you.Wipe the site w/ alcohol and wash hands. They really need to feed for 24 hrs or more to infect, so being vigilant w/ checking is key. I need to go back to checking my kids daily because they're in my damn backyard. Pretty scary.

Thanks for the update on the injections thing. I have been doing this for years and never knew that! I did that to myself, Horses, and my dog Indy. The Vet told me that when buried deep you run the risk of breaking it in half when using the tweezers. I guess his theory is that you are in danger either way.

tweezers are not the way to go either! The mouth parts are so small that even if you remove the tick, the mouth parts can stay imbedded in you.

Use one of these

beleive it or not it works great! You just put it under the tick and for some reason it gets uncomfortable and lets go.

Also to keep ticks away try lemon grass oil. Many years ago I was doing rescue work with wolf-dogs and they lived in a tick infested area, I made my own bug repellant and never in 4 years ever got a tick on me there. Lemongrass oil is one of the ingredients I used.
