Things that make you frown :(

Part II. Get to the checkout line at Shoprite and realize left all the stinkin bags in the car.
Week 1 of moving out of NJ : Oh yeah, so many plastic bags for my garbages at home. This is great.
Week 2 of moving out of NJ: Hmm, these bags are piling up.
Week 3 of moving out of NJ: The fuck do I do with all these plastic bags? I could kill two planet's worth of oceans with these bags.

We keep them to clean out the cat boxes. Probably have a few hundred!

Party of five quads heading toward Ryerson, the crew all in full camp garments. They appeared to carry only one long gun. Be careful out there as these are quite obviously idiots. I know, kids bla bla bla nowhere to ride legally bla bla bla

I would report it if I actually saw them entering the park where it’s obvious they where heading. Maybe they can be caught on the road where they are illegal and the local police can stop them?

Well, it got worse. My wife and I were wrapping up a nice hike on the new Ringwood/Ramapo reroute and Cat Nest/Renegade walking down Ice Pond with Bailey when a side by side quad came down behind us. No customary wave of the hand to thank for us moving to the side of the fire road so I told them loudly the were not supposed to be there. In about 30 seconds I hear a much louder engine buzzing and here is a kid (I know who he is, unfortunately I don’t believe talking to his parents would result in anything positive) coming from Skylands rd, full throttle skidding on the turn. He made no effort to slow down approaching us which prompted Bailey to jump at him catching me by surprise. This kid maybe 12-13 or severely behind in his growth, definitely not the brightest apple in the bucket as when Bailey started pulling me in his direction instead of finally slow down he decided to ride on the raised shoulder of the fire road, which could have caused him to roll over. On top of that, the little shit must have thought he was completely in his right to do so, as he shook his head while speeding away. I called DEP at that point, not that I believe it will matter but whatever. I hate turning into an old grumpy man but I hate this idiots even more now. It’s not just ignoring the rules that are for everybody, it’s just the complete disregard for others’ safety and for what, being able to skid on a dirt road? F’ing big deal dude, you should be proud!

Got a call at 1:30PM this afternoon my mother in law fell in her apt. Lucky it’s only .4 miles from our house. Had to call ambulance to get her checked because we could not lift her due to shoulder injury.

Waiting in ER triage since 2PM still for Dr assessment. They have so many other emergencies coming in these people are really heroes.

Based on my first aid experience either broken collarbone or dislocated shoulder.

Sigh.

Well not sure if better or worse but she’s got a broken shoulder at the head of the humeris bone in multiple spots. They don’t do surgery at her age so she’s getting admitted to manage the pain since she can’t be alone.

Guess it could have been worse. But she will have a long road ahead of treatment and healing. Ugh.

If this ends up a rant apologies in advance. I’m pretty strung out dealing with this fucked up health care system for my MIL.

Day 3 and now the Medicare declined her full time rehab meantime she can barely get herself In and out of bed but they expect her to go home and get in home treatment. Hospital trying to send her home basically told them over my dead body.

Now I have to submit an appeal to Medicare and get the hospital onboard to help. Useless social worker and case worker just checking boxes they did there job which amounts to nothing in my view.

Ok got that out now off to chase down someone here who can actually help.

My experience has been the insurance pays for hospital for just so many days, then when that time is up they ship you to a nursing home/ rehab place for a while longer.

Yeah in this case they seem to think that with a broken shoulder an 81 year old can just go home alone with some weekly visits.

Maybe somone here knows some good home health aide worker or company because looks like we are running out of options.

Never heard of no surgery for multiple fractures. Must be other reasons besides age - so they just right off use of one arm?

It’s all in the top of the shoulder- head of the bone so at her age and risk factors they don’t operate. Got a 2nd opinion and was told the same.

Surgery wouldn’t necessarily improve the recovery result then letting it heal it place.

Same frown, as usual, but more. Taking a hike in the southern area of the Ringwood State Park and finding most fire roads destroyed by quads and dirt bikes. Also, some MTBer must have been riding the new trail while wet (it still is) and while most of it held up pretty well, some areas have deep ruts. And a new rogue trail has been cut right on top of the new trail. Thank you to all those involved with all those fun activities, those like the rest of us not enjoying partaking in illegal activities or just fighting the urge to ride in mud to prevent the trail from washing away must really be a dumb bunch.

After a week of fighting with Medicare and the hospital got my MIL into a rehab place yesterday afternoon. I spent hours on phone calls and based on the family appeal they overturned the rejection and are covering it.

The frown was really that they Called me at 5:15 on New Year’s Eve and said ok she’s approved can you come now to bring her to rehab. I lost my shit on the hospital social worker and told her NFW and you better find a way to transfer her safely. Which they did.

She’s settling in now and the evaluations and stuff are underway.

Big shout out here to @Patrick for connecting me to someone he knows in the elder care industry with some great advice much appreciated.

I promise I will try not to make this frown into blog about my MIL.
