that section is brutal. First time I plowed through every other pedal stroke I considered turning around. Sounds like you hit the swamp too. mentally and physically exhausting, right?
It’s better in the winter, but the swamp doesn’t freeze unless it’s COLD.

nice job getting across!

yeah it was especially bad yesterday with the heat, humidity and no shade, winter is the time to try that again. Hey you gotta fish that pond - I saw smaller bass cruising along the shoreline, there's gotta be big ones

Saw this smallish guy today OMWT rose whip removal trail maintenance . Nice cloudy but not yet rainy day and crossed paths with only 4 people on the trails. It had rained before 6am and that kept the crowds down.

Sublime.

Update: I showed Mrs. G the picture and she asked whether the turtle beat me on a Strava segment.

Follow up story: very early on in this thread, my son was having a bike drive as part of a project for his Bar Mitzvah. In April, he donated around 40 bikes to the Trenton Hike Exchange. Well, the story made all of the local news outlets and a few small publications. We started reviving more calls for drop offs and before we knew it, had around 50 bikes. Bikes were literally appearing in the night. Last week, the bike exchanged picked up the bikes, which brought the total to around $100 bikes. Many of the bikes were in ready to ride condition, which the bike exchanged liked because they have been selling out of bikes very quickly and can’t keep the sales floor filled. It is estimated that the sales these bikes is between 6-$8,000 for the bike exchange as there were a few bikes there would go for 3-$400! This went so far above expectations!

Easy breezy ride this morning cause I had stuff to get done (translation =chores) and I also wanted to save my legs for a longer ride tmw. I would dare say it was a little breezy and cool this morning but it was nice to just cruise.

tried to connect with a new fellow rider but he got a flat andhad to head home (tubeless wouldn’t seal). Then during my ride I met up with some people I knew and chatted a bit. Feels weird to ride with people again

at one point a group of about 30+ riders with Mohican logo on their jerseys passed me the other way it was crazy. So many flybys I lost count.

good to get out for 25 miles before tmws metric+. Temps in the 50s tmw morning gonna feel refreshing.

Ok this thread seems to have become a gathering of regulars.

like how nice was the weather today?!! Wish I had time for more but 65 miles was great today and had some company again so did a little drafting.

Took a lot of pics here’s the highlights. Oh and we rolled up on a cars and coffee in Califon so here’s a teaser pic the rest will be in car spotting thread. Oh and an F-15 flyover that was SO LOUD.

I saw a new rider broke down on the side of the road today and stopped to help. He broke the bolt on his crank arm. I put the bolt back in and put a jorband around it to hopefully keep it in place till he got home. I don't know where he got the bike, but he said it was his first time riding it.

Hell has frozen over.

Somehow my wife convinced our 11yo daughter to ride her bike at Thompson Park in Middletown. I figured a mile would be a victory but she wanted to make it to the bridge over the lake. Once there - "how much farther to do the whole loop?" Ended up doing 4.5. Sunday morning she played around in the driveway for a while. "I'm so bored I might as well ride my bike." After lunch - "can we go riding in the street?" So we did. She even shifts @jimvreeland !

It's a shame the bike is so big but at least it's essentially new and the seat/bar/pedal relationship is OK.
